1 week anniversary of the 三国游记!
Yoshi: Why are there so many Japanese people ringing the bell and bowing at this monument?
Me: Because this is memorial to the children that died from the atomic bombing.
Yoshi: you mean in the blast?
Me: not just the blast. Thousands of children survived the blast but the radiation gave them leukaemia.
Yoshi: why is the memorial surrounded by paper cranes?
Me: the most famous leukaemia patient was girl named Sadako Sasaki. She folded 1000 paper cranes so that she could get better. After she died, this memorial was erected in her honour. She is the girl standing at the top with the giant paper crane.
Yoshi: that girl at the top? She is a real person?
Me: yep! Check out my hiroshima museum post to learn more! Btw Yoshi, I have a question.
Yoshi: what's up?
Me: at the centre of the memorial Is a plaque in Japanese. You're Japanese aren't you? Can you translate?
Yoshi: it says:
"This is our cry
This is our prayer
Peace in the world"
I and (perhaps more importantly) Yoshi have come home! If you look closely you can see Surrey Central in that photo :D
A big special thanks to all of you that followed and supported my journey. Thank you for all making time, for the funny comments and the supportive private messages!
And a big big special thanks to all my hosts throughout the trip that opened their door to me and showed me their home country. Each of you made the trip more enjoyable and I gave me unforgettable memories that I will treasure. ^_^

Our first day back in Tokyo and we decide to go to a cat café
Me: I think they've accepted you as one of their own.
Yoshi: Of course, cats and Yoshis share a mutual dislike of turtles and Italians.
Me:Ah, makes sense. Btw, you seem like you're in a particularly good mood today.
Yoshi: That's because I'm drowning in-
Yoshi: yes, cats. Are these common in Japan?
Me: Yes! Japan is famous for its animal cafés which include cats, owls and hedgehogs. There you can enjoy tea and playing with those animals.
Yoshi: you should bring your sister here
Me: it's on the list

Me: Goodbye Shanghai, goodbye China
Yoshi: So is that the end of our journey? Is that the end of the 3 kingdoms trip?!
Me: I'm afraid so. It's time to go home.
Yoshi: Can we drop by my home country on the way back?
Me: Don't be ridiculous
Yoshi: You're talking to dinosaur
Me: Well I suppose 1 more trip to Japan couldn't hurt.

Yoshi: why do those Chinese buildings have Arabic on it?
Me: that is because it's a mosque!
Yoshi: does china have that many Muslim immigrants?? Are we gonna make China great again?
Me: Not immigrants, these are Chinese Muslims. Islam has thrived in China for 1000 years!
Yoshi: so is that why this mosque looks like an old Chinese building?
Me: yes! This mosque (niujie mosque) was built in the 900's under the Liao dynasty. That means this beijing mosque is older than Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United States combined.
Yoshi: Now That's old, and I'm a dinosaur.
