Daddy @zoranbee : On this day two years ago I rang a bell on a house in Toronto to see a puppy, a Morkie. I made a deal with @margobee_ , my better half, to take a picture of the pup and send it to her, then we’d discuss it over the phone. After all, getting a dog, not to mention our very first dog, was a huge responsibility and we didn’t take it lightly.
The door opened, and out came this black furball walking straight to me to sniff and say hi. I was hers on the first sniff. I took the picture, as agreed, and sent it when we were both in the car; I dazed and giddy in the driver seat, Peppi in a plastic box we used for grocery shopping. The caption read “I’m taking her home”. No discussion, no weighing pros and cons. @margobee_’s reply was “OMG!” There must be a secret chamber in our hearts that waits to be opened at the right moment, by the right someone. Peppi opened ours and fillied it with joy and love.
Two years on, her black fur replaced by white and grey of a grown up Morkie and thrice the size when I first laid eyes on her, @peppibisou is a character with its own personality, stubborn and playful. She’s charming all the friends and neighbours in our new home here in Split. She is very possessive; happiest when we’re all together, at home or out for a walk. If she ever missed the cold winds of Canada, she quickly replaced them with unrestricted dashes along the seashore, seagull-chasing and hikes through the forest of Marjan, the hill above Split.
In our two years together, there was never a thought of regret for bringing her into our lives. And judging by the whimpers and leaps of joy every time we return home, Peppi’s pretty happy with us as well. Happy second adoption-anniversary Peppi!
