The humble warrior signifies surrender as we bow forward into the pose, that doesn't mean the pose is easy, surrendering requires more strength 🙏🏼 PC @onepurlrow

One of the 8 limbs of yoga.....The yama’s (a sort of rule book for your life) is Satya; or truthfulness. I have been holding onto this intention while I practice as of lately. Sharing with my students, what it’s like to quiet the mind and listen inward so that you can then discover what your body really needs. Don’t focus on getting to the final pose but rather understanding the practice and patience it takes throughout your journey to at last reach your destination. Life is constantly changing and so is our practice (entering/exiting our postures) that’s truly the only thing you can depend on. Focus on letting go of your expectations of what the pose “should” look like and do what feels good. Pulling back, resisting, using props or scaling things down is a must in life. Learn to take it easy, to breath and admire the slow and still moments, there lies the real truth. •

Yoga is not a work-out, it is a work-in. And this is the point of spiritual practice; to make us teachable; to open up our hearts and focus our awareness so that we can know what we already know and be who we already are.

What are you doing to heal yourself? I had a discussion today about mental and emotional abuse, and this post is simply all I was saying. Don't move on to get on, to get pass it. Move on to heal and grow through it. We all have struggles, I'm not the first to admit it. We're still doing heart openers all January in my classes. Eu amo!
Love the pink, love the pose, love the picture! 😊❤️🙏🏻 #Repost@carolineanne92
I try to focus on a different area of my practice each day, otherwise I know I would always go to my favourites. Mondays are usually inversions, yesterday it was splits and on Wednesdays I like to work on my backbends / heart openers
There is no one foolproof method to get into the perfect #WheelPose because every single body is different (body proportion / body type / other exercises you currently do etc). Use props if required, or check in with your regular teacher who knows you and your current level of practice.
What I would like to share is how I usually teach this transition (in almost every of my basics class), because I find it helpful to teach beginners how to get into the final pose - #UrdhvaDhanurasana or some know it as #Chakrasana. This method gives me just enough time to pause at every step and stress on key points and places to engage leading up to the final pose. If this didn’t work for you, google for modifications (I love using blocks!) and/or check in with a teacher. Remember ⚠️ Warm up is key and backbends is not about compressing the back body but more of opening up the front body. I’ve stressed this point way back in 2016, and will continue to stress forever. Lol.
Swipe for some of my previous tutorials for alignments and warm ups. You will probably need to go to 🌟 #RuthsYogaTips 🌟 and search for the extended captions for these pictures because I used to put them all there rather than in the pictures itself. Just like my yoga practice, my pictures and editing skills have also evolved. 😂
