Virasana variation 🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼 Yet again another pose to help release those thighs that don't ever want to budge! 😂😂
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 I have made some variation to this pose. I have always struggled with sitting between my legs when they are folded due to the structure of my hips and knees 😖😖😖😖.
Some days it works and other days in doesn't. On the days that it's more difficult I don't let it hold me back from reclining in my virasana. Take WHATEVER variation YOU NEED for your practise. Everyday will look different. Your asana may not match the "ideal pose" but do not let that stop you from participating. Listen to your body and what it needs. Engage with the asana in the way which makes you feel worked but also comfortable and safe.
Throughout my yoga journey I have faced constant criticism for my body, every inch of me has been criticised even down to having "unbalanced doshas".
It has taken me over 20 years of practise to come to a place where I can listen to my body. My aim is to help others listen to themselves. Instead of criticism, engagement and reinforcement are needed to help a person listen to themselves and discover their own practise underneath guidance from an advanced practitioner. Yoga is ultimately an independent practise, reliance on the strict criticism will not keep you engaged. I always get asked how I eat such a huge bowl of oats in the morning. The truth is, we all fuel differently before we train or start our day. No one size fits all approach.
I know that if I don’t fill my body with this much goodness before a weights session I won’t perform at my best or feel 💯 the same goes if I’m running errands!
We all nourish differently, because each of our bodies are different. Some people can eat nothing before a workout and their body is entirely happy. Mine screams at me and says it wants nourishment! That doesn’t mean that because I post this on instagram you should all eat this in the morning! 😂This many carbs just don’t work well for some. Always check in with how your body feels before and after you train/exercise, even throughout the day!
What I do know is that it works for me 🙋♀️ —————————————————————Mix one cup of oats with one cup of blueberries and two cups of hemp milk in a pan. Simmer over medium heat for roughly 6-7 minutes (or soak overnight and just heat through) Mix in one portion of @formnutrition vanilla protein and top with almonds, golden linseeds, coconut yogurt, bee pollen and cacao nibs! Or whatever you fancy! ✨💛

I am not a big fan of this pose because it doesn’t come easy to me. Even now I cannot do it everyday going all the way down, but I do practice it every time I step on my mat.
What you should focus here is to lengthen your spine and keep doing it while going down, don’t curve your back. What I was doing in 2016 was not wrong for example, that was where I cold arrive without arching my back.
