I love the diversity of campers people own in the vanlife community! I find it so interesting how almost everyone customises their vans in different ways.. what an interesting bunch of people us vanlifers are. Haha

🌲🏔 Over the mountains, under the stars 🌌⏳ #camplife
A little story of my start into vanlife... When I arrived at Barcelona for first time I drove up the mountains nearby and had a closer look. It was february and there was a warm breeze blowing over the top.
That was four years ago and back then I was not doing so well and experienced depression often. I had just quit my job as a motorbike journalist in a publishing company and started vanlife. I spent a lot time by myself in order to redirect myself to a track more aligned with nature.
As a child I grew up in the Black Forrest in Germany and I literally spent half of my life in the woods. I trained in the woods, I laughed in the woods, I cried in the woods, I even asked the woods for advice. But during city life I lost this connection somehow… to a point where I did not feel at home in this world anymore.
Standing on that mountain with a view over Barcelona felt like pure magic: so vital and powerful, though so still and peaceful. Like the positivity of all people down the city would be carried to the top. I ended up living there for about two weeks what created a space of love, trust and gratitude within myself that I still feel today.

Rainy day today and it makes me so happy. Wishing we can get more of it here in LA. Is it raining where you are?

Ask a traveler what their favorite part of a nomadic lifestyle is and most of them will likely mention the thrill of waking up somewhere new every few days. What no one really talks about is the dark side of that: waking up suddenly in the middle of the night, followed by the panic of not being able to remember where the hell you are. Anyone else? Is it something the body does as a drill to keep our fight or flight instinct in check when it thinks we’re “too relaxed?” Are we watching too many episodes of Mr. Robot and X-Files alone in the desert? 🧐 #OverthinkersWithZeroChill
Have you ever felt shaken by the absolute silence that emanates from the loneliness of the desert? Imagine spending a night here...

King of the Jungle, King of the Mountains, King of the Beach, and King of The Home Depot Parking lot. The van has been pressed into service hauling all manner of supplies and additions for the boat renovation, from hardwood floors to blinds, paint and everything in between. It’s insane how much you can haul in these boxes on wheels when you want to. Things are progressing on Knot so Fast, the first couple days we’re spent hauling out all of the old owners junk (including a nasty musty stained mattress🤢), then taping and paint prep, then painting (still on going), removing carpets, making a million small repairs, and general cleanup. Hoping to finish painting this weekend and start to work on installing the floors. Definitely at that part of the build where things are looking worse before they look better. Lots of work this #boatlife is! 🛥🌬🚎🌬
