Day 8: Our city circuit begins at the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, which gives a good overview of the local history. The next section of the tour takes in some of the city’s temples, beginning with Wat Mai, a temple renowned for its golden bas-reliefs, before continuing on to Wat Xieng Thong, perhaps the most photographed temple in Luang Prabang, and the unique Wat Visoun, known as ‘The Water Melon Stupa’ due to its shape. ☀️🍉⛩
This was a very special day, as it fell on the New Year and their New Year festival is celebrated with craziest water 💦 fights imaginable - more in this a bit later. However the whole town was in carnival spirit with the parade, MP's attending and all the temples were full of positive prayers and vibes.
