Hey everyone! :) I’m going to try and post an update on my cleanse each day. 💚
Day 2: ✔️
I woke up with a headache that lasted almost all day until I finally decided around 6pm to take an Advil. I’m guessing it was a detox headache but I’m not really sure to be honest. 🤷🏻♀️ Aside from that, today’s smoothie was delicious once again.
Bootcamp 🏋🏽♀️ and 30 mins incline walking on the treadmill.
Egg Mother - Day 141
"Egg Mother" is my performance art piece symbolizing the amount of abuse and suffering experienced by female chickens in the egg industry.
For the entire lifespan of a chicken, I will take time to create an egg out of clay every day, no matter the day, to mourn the female chickens who are unnaturally forced to lay one egg a day, putting a tremendous amount of strain on their bodies.
For a female chicken, the average number of eggs laid (naturally) would be about 15 per year, and she would live to be about 8-10 years old. In the egg industry, female chickens are forced to lay an egg every day until their bodies give out from the exhaustion at 1-2 years, when they are then taken to slaughter for meat. By taking away the egg from underneath a chicken, she instinctually must produce another one, which becomes very hard on her body.
The conditions egg-laying chickens live in are some of the most cruel in animal agriculture. The typical cage is so small that they don't have room to stand up, turn around, or groom themselves, which becomes very frustrating as they go against their natural instincts. The cages are stacked on top of each other so that the chickens relieve themselves onto each other, while still being unable to clean themselves. The eggs fall through the bars of the cages to be collected. Free-range and cage-free are no better because they are grouped in larger spaces with more chickens, where they must climb on top of each other with no real room to move.
Some people believe that buying local or organic eggs from smaller farms or backyard chickens is humane, however the chicken is still being forced to produce an extreme and unnatural amount of eggs, thus putting unnecessary abuse on her body and shortening her life.
Although this piece focuses on the life of female chickens, it should be noted that a frequent practice in the industry is the grinding up of male chicks alive in machines similar to wood chippers after they hatch. Because they don't lay eggs, it doesn't make much economical sense to keep the male chicks alive.
Eggs (as well as all animal products) are unnecessary, unhealthy, replaceable, and never humane.
When I first went vegan some of my bad eating habits crossed over into my new lifestyle, I got sucked into the ‘high carb low fat’ way of life. It got to the point where I wouldn’t eat avocado and peanut butter in the same day 😂 I now eat a balanced diet full of a variety of whole foods and although online advice can be AMAZING and very helpful, at the end of the day don’t listen to anyone more than your OWN BODY! It always knows best ✌️🌈🔮 Home made hash browns with a massive salad ✨ #vegan
Everyone knows how much I love my tea, and most people don’t believe me when I say I drink a lot until they meet me and spend time with me. I’ve only ever had two friends in my life who can match me drink for drink.
Since transitioning from vego to vegan my biggest issue has been getting my tea right. It’s a huge part of my life. I have no desire to change it, but I need to find the right way to drink it that gives me the mouth feel I love.
So far I’ve tried; almond, almond and coconut, coconut x 2 versions, soy, plain black and black with coconut sugar. Today I’ve made cashew mylk which I adore in lattes and smoothies, just like I do all the other plant based mylks.

Biddy & J made vegan no-bake brownies with cashew cream icing -dreamy😍...although it looked nothing like the picture on IG (of course) and was more like a pudding. The icing was ahhhmazing and so simple to make👌 #YUM#veganlife#chocolatelover
