Hey there, Vanlifers!
There he is - the big boy. A VW Crafter all ready for the #vanconversion that is about to happen! Over the next month my partner in crime and I will try our best to make him home and travel ready! Just as excited as we are ?! Follow us on the journey and see how we try and fail and fight and eventually succeed 😄😊 #wishmeluck#diamondsaremadeunderpressure
The back panel is all done! Hidden cupboard door to access the battery and fuse box etc ⚡️🔋
Mains plug, 2 USB ports and a 12v car charger for anything else that we might need!!
Also space to hang a few coats when the doors are shut once we get some nice hooks 🚎🔨

Board strapped to my new aluminess surf pole/hooks. Should free up some space in the van (for more boards 😏) I put some foam pipe insulation on the hooks to protect the rails of the board. Roof rack is also installed. Solar panels mounted. And there's still swell in the water!
#ifeelpretty || Jan 19, 2017: Were getting around to making things pretty and I LOVE IT. We created covers for the front seats to hide the heater and to keep Billie out.😂😂 Our light switches are all installed and looking fiiine😍. We got a custom cut new mat for the cab which makes everything more uniform. Getting excited!
When Rose isn’t in the van she likes to follow her passion of Yoga. Release the inner Zen Master.

"Thanksgiving, to me, is 100 cousins and 2nd cousins and basically-cousins.
It’s uncles and “uncles” and aunts and neighbors and babies and grandparents and - for a long while - great grandparents.
My grandma’s turkey was always stuffed with bread and carrots and onions and green beans but also olives and pinto beans and chiles.
I just loved it.
I once asked my grandma where she got the recipe for her stuffing and she laughed.
Later, my mother told me about their first thanksgiving –
How they had just come across the border and wanted to celebrate an American holiday
They were working in the fields of Central California and barely had enough to eat
But everyone pulled their earnings together and my grandma bought a turkey
She didn’t know anything about how to dress it, so she grabbed all the food they in the fridge and mixed it together.
Then she stuffed the bird.
It was a grand feast.
My mom said they ate for days, though I doubt that was possible with a family of 10, plus all the cousins, and all the uncles and all the “uncles”.
When I was in 1st grade, I was taught the history of Thanksgiving
The teacher told us about the Native Americans, toiling in the soil, bringing forth bounty from the earth
And I thought about my mother…
The textbooks showed men with white hair being presented an abundance of food by brown-skinned people with long hair
And I thought about my grandparents…
I was confused, a little sad, and couldn’t quite place where I belonged in the whole story
Then the teacher served us a Thanksgiving meal at our desks.
When I got home, my mom asked how my day was.
I saw the eagerness in her eyes, the hope - the very things that carried her through her long journey to the promised land
The very things that motivated her to toil in the soil so that one day she could offer her daughters a grand feast.
I wanted to tell to her about the story of the white-haired men seated at the table and the people who stood behind them – the people who looked a lot like us.
But I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.
So I said, “They made stuffing without frijoles in it Mom, and it tasted gross.”" ________________________________________________________
It wouldn't be real vanlife adventures without the need for RAC from time to time... New starter motor and alternator are in and we are as good as new! :)) Even though it has taken a small bite out of our van conversion budget I'm grateful it wasn't anything dramatically serious. On a good note - the windows didn't fall out on the way there and back so I take it we did a reasonable job with those 💪🚐💪 Now just waiting for the snow and rain to stop so we can continue with the roof ones! :D #vanlife#rac#broken#itsnotallbad#vandiaries#vanconversion#campervan#vanlifemovement#fordtransit#fordtransitcamper
It’s been a busy day in the kombi reno workshop to rebuild the front of our bench seat and create some handy new dividers in the box underneath. We used the recycled pallet wood I showed you earlier that we varnished and then stained (remember that ol’ trick?!) 😉
We love the colour and the dark timber is throwing me back to the original VW Westfalia interior shades 🚌💕
Stu’s exhausted, but I’m feeling happy as Larry. Who’s Larry? I’m not sure, but he and I have given today a big two thumbs up 👍👍

Snowdonia was stunning despite the winds. Love old Land Rovers too....needs an onboard kitchen though 😂.

Boating, camping, fishing...
Lake argyle, you have my heart! If I compiled a list of recommended spots, this would be fighting for number one spot. We hired kayaks and spent the day on this magical spot (I'm sure I did most of the rowing to be honest). It's said to have the largest population of freshwater crocs in the world. We pulled up a heap of catfish bigger than peanut with our hand lines, and shared a private waterfall with a baby croc. We then watched the pink, yellow and red sky as the sunset over the calm, still waters completely alone, and then became dinner for thousands of mosquitoes. Even still, I wish we had more time here 💞
We originally built this draw to hang good clothes in. But in 3 months we didn’t wear a business shirt or dress once! So we now have a brand new roll out pantry and I bloody love it!! Lucky for us Bunnings has baskets the perfect width to build the shelves 🙌

my vanlife is ruled by the sun. once the sun is down, I get tired. going to bed at 9pm? - winter standard. I think the better/bigger the van gets, the more you have a "normal livingroom feeling" inside, the longer you stay awake. but the more your vanlife is connected to being outside for example the smaller your vehicle is or the more windows and outdoor-views you have, the more you live with the sun.
also sunshine makes all the difference when it comes to motivation or activity. living almost outside means to organise your day after the weather.
📝 could you imagine your day being ruled like that? do you see why it makes such a difference to have a warm, lighten living room in an appartement and a light-insulated campervan with a sunset view from right out of bed?
To live is the rarest thing in the world, most people just exist.

Update! | It's T-minus 38 hours until I fly to Oregon for the next chapter of life's events. #vannathevan will be staying in Florida undergoing repairs and getting a brand new bright and shiny motor. 😍 I'll return to FL in September to load her up and begin her miaden cross-country voyage back up to Oregon. Lots of feels happening rn!
We love how much people love their vans!! Do you name yours? Comment names 👇🏽👇🏽👏🏽
