My mother has always been worried about my obsession with global citizenship. Growing up, I wanted to prove to everyone that we are not divided by race, religion and the colour of our skin; that we should have a broad-minded perspective about the people we meet, the places we visit, the cultures that are very far away from what we are used to.
When I said I wanted to be a war journalist in Afghanistan, my mom said one thing: "Trisha, I love that you are so free and comfortable with yourself; that you have nothing to hide. You can easily write/voice out your opinions and that is a gift I am happy to witness beyond my wildest dreams. I know you want to be Christiane Amanpour and I will support you. But if you are only doing this for the adrenaline rush, for pushing yourself to the limit, for seeking new adventures, remember, you have a family that loves you. Please be careful." When it comes to traveling, I can be a bit selfish but that selfishness also taught me to live with the fact that I have family and friends who love me. DO IT FOR THEM.
Since then, I have controlled my urge into a milder one - by living with local families and learning how to speak, sleep, eat and cook like them.
My mother is still bothered with the very poor and limited Internet connection in the villages I choose to be in but I know this makes her happier than my attempt to be the next Christiane Amanpour.
2018: Everyone is traveling. What's your next move? Better yet, what's your bolder move? #TrishaVxVietnam#Vietnam#hostfamily

People are struggling in many cases, let's say almost always, with the impatient feeling of wanting to arrive at their destination. Sometimes while on their way, they suddenly notice HOW BEAUTIFUL it is.🌍🗻
Let's promise each other that next time, when we see one of those breathtaking views - we'll take the first possible and safe spot to stop and use our eyes to look around. We guarantee, you will feel blessed by doing so
#travelbird for the chance to get featured.
Just look at how perfect nature is!!
You can see how close Ningaloo Reef is to the shore, making it so easy to go for a snorkel 🐠🐟🐡
You wouldn't believe all the wildlife underwater that you'll see!! I came across a huge turtle by surprise and got to swim with it for like 5 mins without it rushing away.
It was such a surreal experience - I have no photos or videos to prove it as I don't have a photographer following me all day long but it's a memory that will stay with me forever 💙
