Einfach nur schön wieder zuhause zu sein! Die Mara ist grün wie selten, alle Tiere scheinen satt und zufrieden zu sein und so sind auch die Menschen glücklich - Hakuna Matata!
Great to be back home. The savannahs are green and there is no comparison to last years severe drought in this area of Kenya. Fat cattle means happy people and now is the best time for all these little baby animals to be born within the next weeks.
The third and last shot of this storm is taken at the moment we realized that there‘s no escape from this beast anymore. After moving out of the mountains, it gained speed significantly and rolled in at our position, while we barely managed to make it below the roof of a nearby gas station. Some casual whiteout with small hail and winds around 100kph followed, as the storm passed over us. Sometimes a sheer destructive thing can also be the most beautiful thing..
At least 13 people have died in weather-related incidents in Santa Barbara County, as the Southland's first major winter storm triggered flooding and mudflows that forced the closure of the 101 Freeway in the Thomas Fire burn area. Five of the fatalities occurred in and around Montecito. In addition to the fatalities, 25 people were reported injured. Powerful mudslides destroyed homes in the area as rescue crews rushed to search the rubble. The mud was reported to be 5 feet deep in places. We’ll have a series of live reports on Eyewitness News starting at 3pm on ABC7 and abc7.com/live. Video: Paul Wellman/Santa Barbara Independent

The death toll in weather-related incidents in Santa Barbara County has risen to 17, after a storm led to dangerous mudflows in the Thomas Fire burn area. Air7HD captured the devastation Wednesday morning. Two-dozen people were still considered missing. Forecasters said the maximum rainfall occurred in a 15-minute span starting at 3:30am Tuesday in southeast Santa Barbara County. Montecito got more than a half-inch in five minutes, while Carpinteria received 0.86 inches in 15 minutes. The CHP shut down the northbound 101 at Route 126 in Ventura, and at Seacliff, and the southbound 101 was closed just south of Santa Barbara at Milpas. The closure remained in place Wednesday morning. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and use the 5 Freeway as an alternative route. Caltrans says the earliest the 101 could reopen would be Thursday night.
