Now that I’m not right in the heart of the mountains anymore, there’s always a little debate before going skiing. Will there be snow? Are the roads ok? Can I carve this time out of my schedule? Will it all be worth it? .
World class mountains used to be a 5-minute drive from my house. If I had an hour and a half window in my day, I could get a ski in. It wouldn’t matter if the conditions weren’t great. Now, I have to drive over an hour to get to the mountain. That may not sound like a lot, but it can add up to a solid half day for an uphill ski when it used to take a total of an hour and a half. .
So yesterday I asked myself all of those questions, including “can I get out of my snuggly blanket?” But I did. And I’m SO glad I did! The powder yesterday was amazing! Sometimes the snow can be so heavy up on #MtHood, but yesterday it was so light and fluffy and sparkly. And my ride down was probably the best run I’ve had all season long! Ski bum for life!

Hey kid, what did you do? jump ship?? If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me this while wearing my puffy vest...I’d wear it a lot more often 💰💵 Georgia, fall 2017
One really big thing I took away from this trip, is that taking the time to enjoy what winter really has to offer can really makes the season a little bit more bearable. Plus spending the time to just relax with @kvassie (while also going on 10km hikes) during reading week, allows me to feel Okay about going back to school for another 3ish months 🙄 #themountainsarecalling
