Classroom walkthroughs on this afternoon, and meeting some parents of students this morning... you could say I’m a little nervous! 😂 still lots to do in my classroom, as well as finishing off some resources for first week activities. This week has just flown by, don’t you think?! .

Love this lightweight tunic! 🖤 I wear it dressed down with leggings, or dressed up for work (I’m a teacher). It’s a longer in the back & under $20!! 🙌🏼 Get the details on the Instagram tab of my blog, or click/enter this:👉🏼👉🏼
“Once you learn to read, you will forever be free.” Frederick Douglass had it right (although those of us who know and have taught his narrative are struck by the fact he contradicts himself when he discusses the torment that learning to read brings him because he is able to access knowledge about the horrors of his condition!). The key to academic- and social, cultural, emotional and political- success and happiness is being able to read. At my school, we incentivize reading by tracking the number of books and words children have read. They have the opportunity to win Barnes & Noble gift certificates, the chance to dress up as royal emperors (crowns included), and in 8th grade, even a Kindle! As a result, our kids can’t get enough of their literature! First day of school for us this week...😳 I can only imagine that the kids and I are going to be feeling like this: 😶🤪😩🤨😅 all day. I was looking at my recent posts last night and realized that I’ve been wearing a lot of dark colors lately, so I decided to switch it up today and wear what is probably one of the loudest pieces of clothing I own. 💗 hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday!✨
