Today we talked about Perseverance during our Character Building time. This lesson was very valuable as we continue to discuss the impact of having a growth mindset. ------------------
Students were engaged throughout the lesson as we read the book "She Persisted" by Chelsea Clinton. Before reading, I emphasized to all my students that just because this book was about women, EVERYONE can make a difference. Many of the students were able to draw on their own experiences and share what Perseverance "Looks like" and "Sounds like."

So last year I did class dojo with year one. These were the prizes that each days winner got to choose from. I’m not about spending my life savings on toy prizes so these options were fantastic. It’s easy to watch the Boston Marathon and assume preparation simply involves a lot of mileage. In reality, there’s much more that comes into play. Boston runners supplement their running with weight lifting, cross training and more. Yesterday we added another link to our challenge of improving our school and it was SO fun. You can see the challenge on the last pic but it was such a great way to get kids digging into books they may not have seen before. I noticed that after hiding notes, others grabbed that book and dug in. ❤️ Love my wild readers.
