Bernie has been looking for his big brother Smokey, often visiting the room where Smokey and I were when Smokey passed.
In the beginning, almost two years ago, Bernie adopted our family. Smokey wasn’t so sure of this little energetic puppy. Smokey “thwarted” Bernie’s bitey face maneuvers to me, ever so protective of his mother. He was won by Bernie’s persistence and love of snuggling. They became the best snuggle buds.
It was a joy to see Smokey play as he did in his younger years. Smokey taught Bernie not to eat yellow snow, how to find the perfect pee spots and how to courageous. Eventually, Smokey became protective of his little brother as well. At home during playdates with other puppies and at the dog park. Bernie was his family, the annoying little brother who he learned to be patient with, to love and protect.
We’re all feeling the loss of our dear Smokey. And we thank you for your words of love, understanding and prayers. Thank you for sharing your experiences with loss. It is overwhelming at times and yet my heart fills with love as I take in your words. Thank you for being there for us. Thank you for being our friends, our family.
I appreciate all who have donated in honor of Smokey. 100% of your money brings wheelchairs to pups in need when you donate. Wheeling Superheroes is our family’s pet project [link in bio] because every pup in the planet deserves a chance.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart,
So dad took us for a walk this weekend. We thought we could push a little more than usual, but with the heat in SoCal this weekend, we ended up getting pretty tired. Luckily, we had an idea on how to get back to our car #WeShouldWalkLikeThisMoreOften
