A live look of our project last weekend to paint the bilge! Our friend @joshuaronak who is slaving away with the paint brush in this clip did us a huge favor taking time away from his own refit project of @airstreamnomad to help us out. Getting all the little corners and undersides of beams isn’t easy and takes a whole lot longer than you might expect. Many hands makes for quicker work - and it also makes it more FUN 😃🤙
WEEKEND PROJECT = PAINT THE BILGE. Today we put the first coat of paint on our bilge and the top of the water tanks and stringers that lay across it. Each stroke of the brush was about 1000x more satisfying than the all too important prep work; a tough part of any project but crucial for ones like this. Thanks to great friends along the way, the many hands made work easy. Up tomorrow is Step 2: sand the first coat to rough it up and Step 3: paint a second coat. The paint we’re using is Total Boat Bilge paint (epoxy-based), in case anyone committed to reading this far is wondering.
Chi indovina cos'è vince un giro qui a @portomirabello ad aiutarci coi lavori! 😂 .
Whoever can guess what this is will win a fabolous prize: a day here in Porto Mirabell, helping us in the shipyard! 😂
All bones, no guts (yet). This is the current view from the companion way into Whistlin’ Riggin’. The marine plywood floors are in the process of getting access panels constructed for them to the water tanks below. Meanwhile, the galley is being entirely rebuilt as the majority of it was rotted, the bilge & cabin top need repainting, the port holes need refinishing, and the list goes on! Lots of work ahead but we’re excited to be in the ‘building back’ phase instead of the ‘tearing-out’ one. Ohhhh yeah! 🤙

Been working on the #NorthStar since before Christmas. 10-12hrs a day basically seven days a week.
Added a few new skills along the way and had some fun but let me tell you, I am a little happy to get my life back in a few days. 😊
