Another day another deck full of nets to process. Separating buoys, lead weights, ropes and net and chopping in to tiny pieces is exhausting hard work but we work round the clock to get it done. We do it all by hand and not only do our fingers get a battering our knives cop it too! Check out these knives side by side from the ones a few weeks old to a brand new one on the right! Knackered! But now these nets won’t kill anymore, and we won’t stop until we’ve pulled out every last one. If you want to support this team of warriors you can do any (or all?!!) of the following: sign up to crew, donate directly to Sea Shepherd, set up monthly direct debits to this amazing organisation, buy some of our merchandise or even just share our posts and help raise awareness to save the Vaquita. All this can be done through our Facebook pages or at www.seashepherd.com #opmilagro#vaquita#savethevaquita#mvjohnpauldejoria#illegalfishing#iuufishing#bangillnets#gillnetting#mexico#bajacalifornia#gulfofmexico#seaofcortez#seashepherdconservationsociety#defendconserveprotect#fortheoceans

Loreto was the first Spanish colonial settlement on the Baja Peninsula and was founded in 1697 by Jesuit missionaries, who found a reliable fresh water spring in the area. Reflecting on an unbelievable year in Bahia de los Ángeles. I’ve been beyond fortunate for so many priceless moments shared with some fantastic adventurers. Truly enjoyed watching all of you embrace the magic of this special place. I’ll be posting some of my most memorable encounters of 2017 during the next few days. Here’s one of them: a pod of curious orcas gifting @mattdraperphotography@silversharkadventures and my great friend Pancho a lifetime of memories on a perfect day. Happy New Year to everybody out there. All my best to you and your loved ones.

Watching this superpod of a few thousand common dolphins on the move felt like we were in the middle of an oceanic stampede. What an unbelievable encounter shared with @lexiselias@roo_scott1 on a “Blue Planet” day in Bahia de los Ángeles.
