I was a bit cunning with my #beachcombing earlier 😉 I took a beachride out this afternoon and took advantage of having a birds eye view of the rare patches of shingle as I was riding along and spotted a few good bits of #seaglass on route.. with a westie that needed walking I retraced my tracks and found these beauties 😁 it also kinda made up for the needle... #seaglass#mermaidtear#oldglass#frostedseaglass
Three more days until we're back in Hawaii, where we discovered our love of sea glass and jewelry making. 😍
These are the fist pieces that The Hubs M.D. ever drilled, just about two ears ago.
A custom piece for one of my oldest and dearest friend @returntothesea 💙 One of quite a few pieces I’m making her to start off her new jewelry box 😍When I awoke in the wee hours of Dec 5, the first news I saw of the #thomasfire was a video/picture of a porch I’ve spent many many hours in the past 10+ years, enjoying the view, chatting about things, getting life advice, and contemplating life’s great choices and challenges; engulfed in flames. At 3 am I thought I was having a nightmare. I had just been texting with her around 9:30 the night before, I had finished a pendant for her and asked her if she had a chain or cord for it. She said she would check later when she got a chance. Well unfortunately the chance didn’t come. She and her family saw the flames, ran around knocking on doors waking neighbors, grabbed what they could and ran for their cars. Unfortunately during the panic Michelle (who uses her truck for work as a pool cleaner, she keeps all her tools and equipment in it at all times) could not find where she set her keys. The flames came too quickly and thankfully her hubby who is gone 5-6 nights a week commercial fishing was home, they threw their son and themselves into his truck and ran with only the clothes on their backs. Earlier this year, Michelle’s 17 yo dog Irie (she found her with our other BFF who is no longer with us in some bushes in Humboldt when she was a tiny puppy) left us and went to heaven. Michelle has always been such an inspiration to me, and even more so now. After loosing her best friend and having her home of 12 years burn to the ground, she still has the biggest smile on her face and hasn’t lost her positivity or zest for life. She went back to work two days after the fire, and is continuing to pursue her dreams of surfing everyday she can and traveling to Surf, meet and document surfer girls in other places with her video project (check it out @returntothesea). I found this gorgeous #blueseaglass piece a few weeks after the fires and knew it was for my Cookie 💙💚 inside the band I stamped her dogs name “irie” so they’ll always be together #seaglass#silverrings#madeinVentura#mermaidbling

“Experts who study colour preferences have found that a person’s gender and age will frequently influence what they consider as their favourite colours. They agree that men prefer rich colours such as cobalt blue, jade green, orange, and red while women normally prefer the softer tones of aqua, pale green, pink and lavender.
By carefully exploring the range of colours found in glass, it becomes easier to date certain shards and begin to understand why some colours are significantly more rare than others.”
- Richard LaMotte; excerpt from ‘Pure Sea Glass’
Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day in London! As I mudlarked in the warm sunshine, I found this incredible 17th century glass apothecary vial. It's nothing short of a miracle that it has survived intact after 400 years in the strong currents and turbulent tides of the river! The pontil scar on the underside of the bottle indicates that the glass was blown freehand. I wonder what healing potions or apothecary's concoctions the bottle would have contained??
I mean....😍😍😍...can we just take a minute to appreciate this beauty done by @melissaw_91.
Wanna test your sea glass knowledge?
By only using one word & not repeating anyone else’s answer, can we collectively point out what object(s) each colour came from?
