It's Friday night... Yay... We are stuck in the library... not so yay! Hope everyone is looking forward to the weekend. Any exciting plans? We wish we were heading back to Glasgow for some more exploring. Sadly we're not but hoping to get outdoors somewhere at least! 😊
They say that you could rebuild most of Scotland's ruined #castles by reclaiming their lost stones from the nearby buildings into which they were 'recycled'. That's certainly the case with Bandon Tower, just north of Glenrothes in #Fife, with the adjacent farm having been built with the tower's ready-made stones. If someone else has already done all the work, why start from scratch?
Bandon was built by Alan Balfour in 1580 and offered modest protection and accommodation for a local laird. You can spot it while driving along the A92 on the hillside to the west. The #snow really helps to make these old #ruins pop out from the landscape, so while it was chilly up there on the hill the vista and the solitude made it all worthwhile.
