Joshua is heading back home tomorrow morning and I’m staying here in Tulsa to work until Saturday! I’m gonna miss him and I️ can’t wait to get back home but I’m excited to get my hands in some hair and see all of my friends and family this week 😍
Last July marked two full years on the road in this nomadic lifestyle. We forgot to share a summary of the numbers that we posted our first year. This is about miles traveled, days staying free, etc. July 2018 will be three years on the road. We’ll post another update then. (Link in profile)
I should have dropped my camper today. That horrifying thud when the camper comes off of the fifth wheel hitch and hits the truck. Of all of the cases, it’s rarely a mechanical failure. More often, it’s a user error and today was no exception.
Hitched up this morning. Did a walk around to make sure nothing was missed.
To get out of the site, I had to back up 4-5’ and then pulled through the campground. Something gnawing at me like it was wrong.
Drove 60 (sixty!) miles over train tracks, multiple turns, the whole typical travel day.
Stopped at a gas station to use the potty. I’ve gotten lax and don’t regularly do a full walk around at potty breaks. Upon my walk around there, I saw my hitch.
I never pinned the jaws closed. Somehow my B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch didn’t let go.
Honestly, recounting this makes me sick to my stomach.
There was a time when I really had no idea how badly my life lacked adventure. I thought I was content to work for someone else. I had a false sense of security.
After owning a business, I learned a couple of things: 1) Serving others is my love language and 2) I like being my own boss.
Right now, we are currently working for someone else, but we are halfway to where we want to be. We live in an RV, and are able to have a different backyard anytime we want to - within the geographical region of where our job is.
Long story short - the decision has been made that we want to live our life on our terms. No more working in a job we hate. We are buckling down to make this happen this year. .
The adventure is worthwhile.

Honk (or like 😉) if you’ve seen one of our billboards around San Diego! When’s the last time you’ve found yourself in hot water?

Do you VACATION or do you TRAVEL? Is there a difference?
You might think because we are heading to Kauai that we are getting set to relax on the beach all day and take it easy. Not our style. We are always “working”. But what we do... doesn’t feel like work.
We have a full list of content we will be CREATING on this trip. Our bags are packed with camera gear and computers and we’ll be on coaching calls and checking in with our co-workers the whole time. Why? Because we love what we do! We love sharing our passion for travel, adventure and online marketing with YOU!
We have created our own #40hoursoffreedom that extends beyond the van. We can take it everywhere we go.
What is it you want to share with the world? What can you CREATE to inspire others? #createmoreconsumeless

We love this great shot from Vilano owner John Ward. Thanks for the photo, John! Do you have any great pictures of your Vanleigh RV out on the open road? #BuiltAroundYou
