What’s better than running friends? If you’re new to the Sacramento area, or to running, our SRA AmbasSRAdors know all the great spots to run! Feel free to reach out to them. Here is SRA AmbasSRAdor, @andrea_nichole916: “Hey all! I am so excited to hit the ground running, literally, to help grow the amazing running community in Sacramento. You can find me running in what I call my backyard, the American River Parkway, and showing up for just about every local race or running club I can. When I'm not running I'm home cuddling with my cats and hubby while watching anything on Food Network or chilling with the mouse himself at Disneyland. Make sure to wave or say hello next time you see me out and about, I'm always up for meeting new running friends.” #runSRA#teamSRA#SRAambasSRAdor
Nothing is out of reach - no matter how how high you need to climb or how far you need to travel - - - - - - -
This has been a tough week. Being sick has made everything a little bit harder. I woke up this morning anticipating a very difficult run. I will not lie - it was difficult. But adversity makes you stronger and I’m a fighter. Hit all my paces today and feeling rejuvenated. The journey is worth the struggle. Happy running.
With the @rundisney princess half marathon fast approaching, I’m throwing out a #tbt to the 2016 princess half, which was my first race! I’m excited to take on this race again next month, who else will be there!? #rundisney#princesshalf

Y’ALL THAT WAS HARD! 😰
The hard is what makes us better right? This workout had to be adapted to the home treadmill since our gym didn’t open until 12 and has no childcare today. Thankfully hubby was home again so we could tag team 👪
Scheduled workout: 20 minute warm up, 4 x 1 mile (6:55-5:50 pace) with 400 recovery, 2 x 400 (6:00 pace) with 300 recovery, and 20 minute cool down. 💪
I hit the mile repeats (6:54, 6;54, 6:49, 6:49) but that took about all I had out of me. I started the first 400 and at the end I was hanging on. Last night I came down with a cold and the repeats were all my body had in it so I cut the last 400. It wasn’t worth it with how tired I was feeling. 🤷🏻♀️

Strength training is 100% necessary to progress in running injury free! This circuit i like to tack on after an easy run! This is the circuit that i did for 4 weeks 4x/week to help improve hip strength and to make my IT band stronger. I now do it once or twice with other lifting mixed in! .
3 to 5 rounds, 10 reps
Lateral band walk
Side leg raise
Inner leg raise
Single leg glute bridges
Tempo Intervals. Cold as hell (as expected) and more than enough black ice to keep things interesting, but pleased I was able to hold my pace for both intervals. Hopefully bodes well for even lower times as I work to shake off the winter fur. 2 x 2 miles at tempo interval pace/4 minute recovery + 10 minute warm up and cool down. #run#runchat#running#nyrr#unitednychalf
1 year ago I was starting my journey towards the start line of my very first @bostonmarathon which I ran at 4 months postpartum! One of the most difficult but rewarding build ups I’ve ever had for a marathon! 💙💛 I wore my jacket today to remind myself that WE CAN DO HARD THINGS!
Today’s run was all about recovery after yesterday’s big workout. Over the years I’ve learned a few things about recovery:.
💕 YOU and only you are responsible for making sure you are running a true recovery pace.
💕 Your recovery days are vital if you want to hit your big workouts.
💕 I always start super slow and let my body dictate the pace as I progress.
💕 You should be able to carry on a conversation comfortably on your easy runs. If you can’t slow down.
💕 Recovery takes as much dedication as running hard does at times. There is no shame in running slow - it doesn’t make you any less of a runner!
💕 There isn’t such a thing as too slow.
💕 Each easy day is different. What feels easy one day may not the next. Don’t let your watch dictate it - let your body! .

Jumping out of bed on a snow day like a kid in a candy store......with a few more layers on of course!
Skipped the treadmill for some cardio snuck into my full body circuits and gave a little extra attention to core exercises 🙄 2 of 3 circuits are in my stories, but I'll share it all in an easy to read version 👊🏼🖤💦
Sorry in advance for the sweat, you'll want a lake to jump in when you're done. Or is it just me who sweats this much?! Comment below and it's yours 👇🏼
