I'm enjoying taking the time to sharpen my skills and get reinspired this January by taking some classes. Been working through one on color correcting so going back through my photos from last year and re-editing the colors. This one's from Liberia last August. ⠀
Luke Bawo is a coordinator for health information systems, research, and monetary evaluation at the Ministry of Health in Liberia. We ended up doing his on camera interview at his house and asked to quickly take a portrait of him before we left. I was planning to take him up to his deck overlooking the Atlantic ocean. I started packing up the gear. As I was about to head that way, I looked over noticed he sat down in this chair in his living room. I realized that was the photo. I put the light back together and quickly snapped this portrait. Usually, I find the best shots are the unplanned ones. The ones you see in the moment.⠀
My new studio space - I moved in on November 1st!! Before this space, I was in Old Town for a year. This space is larger and allows me to have all “my stuff” in one place!! I have worked hard to get here - but excited for the work of 2018!! Oh- and if you are local come see me Thursday- it’s my grand opening!!
I had the opportunity to photograph someone that has done makeup for me many times and let me use her as a subject. @_meagainnn_ you did so well, gonna have to do it again when I am in town.

The Alice in Wonderland story was born on July 4th 1862. On that particular July day a girl named Alice and her two sisters went on a row boat with family friend Charles Dodgson. Alice asked him to tell her a story. He responded with a tale he made up. The rest is history. This amazing Alice themed dress is created by @darlingarmy.
Lighting here done with two Profoto B1 units the key light shooting into a Octobox almost directly in front but slightly left of Camera. The second light was using a 7” reflector and was booked over the flower grid behind the subject.
