Mindset Monday: sometime before the Olympia George @georgep_dabull and I had a talk. I told him about Roger Bannister...the first man who ever ran a 4 minute mile. Bannister decided he first had to break the milestone in his mind before he could do it in real life. To be the first human ever to break the barrier....and all the runners were in a race to get there, although curiously nobody could do it. Turns out.....based on a conversation I had with Bev @bev.weinberger just last week while at the gym....it was his coach who played a vital role in Mr Bannister being the first human to ever break 4 min barrier that day. Bev told me a story about the day it happened. She knew the story directly from her track coach (Bev was a world class athlete before competing in bodybuilding).....her track coach was also Roger Bannister's track coach...Franz Stampfl. Was an AMAZING story!! And yes Roger Bannister became the first human to run a sub 4 minute mile....and interestingly enough 26 others also did it within 1 year....why? Because Bannister showed them it was possible.
Anyway months earlier I told George let's set a goal of being the most ripped human ever...he said "Ok coach let's do it!" He actively believed and visualized this was possible. Did he achieve that?? Well no, maybe not quite, but although he didn't quite pull that off (at least not yet)....he ended up becoming arguably the most ripped athlete on the stage on Olympia weekend....which is almost as great. There are over 7 Billion of us on earth....to be one of the most ripped humans on the planet....even if only for a day....is NOT an easy thing to do!!! But everything first starts in the mind. He only placed so high and looked so crazy that weekend because he fully believed that he would.....well and add to that GEORGE WORKED HIS F**KING ASS OFF!!! He SUFFERED in silence. His crazy coach half starved him to death but he never complained. The secret is in believing the "impossible" is possible and also in suffering more than anybody else. This is what the very best in the world do better in my opinion. That's HOW & WHY they are the best in the world.
