We went to Thûc Lám Tinh Vién Pagoda today. It’s a magnificent Pagoda built very recently in the style of Northern Vietnamese Pagodas here in Hon Tre island (that’s the name of our island 🌴) I will post photos and History of the temple itself later.. For now, this is the photo of orchids growing attached to trees inside the pagodas ( apparently it’s possible in subtropical climates where roots of the flower end up wrapping itself around the trunk😍😍). The second picture is of the formation of algae in water pods that are placed next to giant stones near the Pagoda. I don’t know why they do that but I will try to ask when I go back there again tomorrow. I hope they would be able to explain it to me haha. Otherwise I just like the pattern on the film that covers the water that even the lotus leaf in the corner can’t break. #vinpearlnhatrang#orchids#pagodavietnam#algae
2017 was a great growing year. I learned a lot more about #Paphiopedilum#orchids. I killed a few but managed to flower many more. To start 2018 with a bang, I am in Hawaii to learn from some brilliant minds at the Paph Guild and World Slipper Orchid Conference.

My photosynthetic children are very competitive, vying for attention through their intricate markings and vibrant colors. Like any good parents, I have no favorites 😉. I like all my #Paphiopedilum#orchids equally.

My son and I spotted this beauty while out on a walk yesterday and wanted to share it!
