#TurtleTuesday If only we could all age this beautifully❤️🐢 Sea turtles grow slowly and take between 15 and 50 years to reach reproductive maturity, depending on the species. It is theorized that some species can live over 100 years. #SeaTurtle#Belize#cayecaulker
From Maldives to Australia, I'm back being neighbours with my marine warrior chica @kylie_oceangirl 👭💙 -
Kylie is a total go-getter and has continued to inspire me since we met in Maldives in 2015. we worked side-by-side as resident marine biologists on a luxury resort island. With a change of scenery and maybe more whale sharks this time, we're teaming up in Coral Bay, west aus. Kylie and Shirra's baby mermaid is now a super special addition to our team 🐣👶😍
Coral Bay you have seduced me with your beauty and abundance of marine life. I'm very excited to be learning about the diversity of Australia's Ningaloo Reef 🌊🐬🦈🐳🐙🐢🐟🐚🦀

This morning I asked if any of you would be interested in some posts about how to start your plastic/waste free journey and it makes me so happy that so many of you are!! 🙌 (Even happier that y'all said Insta posts instead of YouTube vids bc I really didn't wanna do that 😂). Before I get into products etc I think it's important to understand why we need to reduce our plastic consumption in the first place. Plastic is having a catastrophic impact on our oceans and environment as every piece of plastic ever created still exists, because it doesn't break down. 18,000 pieces of plastic float in every square km of ocean, which is a 6:1 ratio to fish, which they and other marine animals consume and become entangled in. That is why I started giving up plastics in the first place, I saw the impact it was having and decided to do something about it. 🐬🐢🐠🦈🐙🐋
As a @seashepherd volunteer I go to numerous beach cleans and see the amount of rubbish we collect. But if all we do is beach cleans, that's all we'll ever do. We need to stop it at the source before it reaches our oceans. ❌🚯
I'm so excited to start sharing all the tips and tricks I have learnt over the past year with you all and I hope I can help and inspire you to make positive change #ForTheOceans 🌏💙💚🌿

Although I live very close to the ocean, it has been a really long time since I stepped into the beach.
But for some strange reason this day, I saw myself halting on my way through the road along #foreshoreestatebeach at a very very random spot.
It was the middle of the day and only a loon like me would want to go for a stroll on the beach in the blasting Chennai heat.
But on this day, I did not want to go for a stroll. I din't want anything. I just parked my bike and walked towards the shore.
My footsteps lead me straight to this sight.
It was a very bizarre moment. A moment of horrid shock and realization. I was drawn to this spot on a random day to see this? Why?
The sea turtles? What about the other creatures in the ocean? What about the ocean itself?? Like most things about the human species that makes me frustrated and cynical, one of the biggest quality I despise is the attitude of apathy and greed.
Humans are the biggest #threat to the #endangeredspecies#seaturtle
Every year hundreds of turtles that come back home to nest, get injured and killed because of commercial fishing, and large scale trawling.
But this is not about some dead turtle on the shore. It is about #greed
Man's greed has no limit. It has caused unimaginable devastation to the world's #ecosystems
It has made him miserable too.
This desire for accumulation can never be satisfied. The more you get the more you want. Greed is always ahead of you, asking for more. Never allowing you to be satisfied with what is.
And when greed is not fulfilled it leads to anger, frustration and violence. It leads to destructive behavior.
I could emphasize on conservation and pollution control and a host of other approaches to save the world, but nothing is going to have any effect unless you clean yourself and your mind and your thoughts first.
