I had a phenomenal time this afternoon at Norfolk State University’s Women Initiative entitled A Seat at The Table. My presentation was entitled Claiming Your Health and Body and I spoke about the importance of laying a solid foundation of fitness and healthy eating habits as apart of your college experience. I gained 50lbs while I was in college so I shared why my weight got to that level and how they can curtail that happening to them during these newly found years of freedom. And s/o to the 300 Women students who attended the event. I mean they were so confident and forthcoming with their feelings and information to share to help themselves and others. I was so impressed with those ladies. Time well spent this Sunday. #goodevening#aseatatthetable

“I’ve been doing CrossFit for a year and a half- I started at a gym in North Carolina. I moved here in August, and, after visiting 8 different Crossfit gyms in the area, I decided to stick with Radon long-term. The community here is fantastic, and the coaches are great. I have a dog, Troyka- she’s a sweetheart! Everybody loves her, and I bring her here with me pretty often. I also really love to cook. I post pictures of the food I make and the recipes on my Instagram - they’re mostly healthy! As far as CrossFit goes, the best advice I could give to a new member is to stick with it- the days you don’t want to come are the most important days of your fitness journey.”
In this fortnight's issue, Hannah Evens reflects on her experience with dyslexia at UEA. 📖📚 ✒️ Check the article out on pg 12 in print or on our website here: 📝 "People with dyslexia are presented with challenges on a daily basis. One person with dyslexia will have different struggles to another, and there are no definitive symptoms." "The support I gained from the university was outstanding and they were able to guide me through the process of getting tested"

Take a moment to see downtown Norfolk circa 1905. The Monticello Hotel stands proud beside the beautiful City Armory/Market. The Old City Hall dome near the end should be a familiar sight to most. Many of the buildings pictured are long since gone. Photo: Miller, Rhoads & Swartz / LOC
