We got a trail run in before the rain hit! So I brought tucker and Ellie on this run to pull me up the hills so it would be easier. Well the first half of the trail was mostly downhill so they enjoyed pulling me down the muddy hills and making me fall. The second half was mostly uphill, at that point they were too tired to pull me at all. I think they were plotting against me.

We really don’t know what season this is. Usually January in Wyoming is bitter cold. Whatever it is, I’ll take what outside time I can get. It’s the weekend, get out there! #getoutthere#optoutside#lifesbetteroutside
2018, you are the year of discovery. In the words of Neil Gaiman - “The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can.” It’s easy to get discouraged when you try hard and you don’t succeed ...or you watch someone else flourish while you’re still grinding away. But hey, guess what, don’t forget your own voice. That girl or guy over there who’s rocking it out, way to go! But that doesn’t mean you’re not or you won’t. Remember that you have something special, a unique spark that only you hold. Don’t lose it.[Shoutout to @fourtythirtyone for brightening up all of our days with your beautiful smile] 🌺

“I’d forgotten how enlivening it could feel, seeing clearly and far. Aridity frees light. It also unleashes grandeur. The earth here wasn’t cloaked in forest, nor draped in green. Green was pastoral, peaceful, mild. Desert beauty was “sublime” in the way that the romantic poets had used the word- not peaceful dales but rugged mountain faces, not reassuring but daunting nature, the earth’s skin and haunches, its spines and angles arching prehistorically in sunlight.”

We're finally training back out on the river! After nearly 3 weeks of the river being on a red flag, we got the all-clear this week and hopped back into our boat for a very successful session in lovely conditions.

#tbt to that one time I tandem rappelled with Milo down into Donut Falls. He was nervous about it, and understandably so. We got out of the water and he cried and screamed, until he saw a squirrel being silly. Then those cries turned to huge belly laughs. I want the boys to have these moments where their comfort zone is (safely) stretched. They don’t always have to love it or even do it again; but they will know they can do hard things. @altrarunning
On our hike to Cassidy Arch we pumped into a couple and they asked us how close they were to the arch. We let them know that they had missed the turn and we were on our way to the Arch, but there was an incredible view that they needed to check out before they went back to the Arch. We continued on with our hike and after a while we started to doubt ourselves. Maybe we were the ones that were lost, BUT shortly after that we came upon the turn off. In the distance we could see another hiker so we knew we were close. As we got closer to the hiker she seemed to be lost. And at that moment we found the Arch. It was completely different than we expected because the Arch was below the hiking trail. We called out to the lost hiker and found out that she had been looking for the Arch for an hour. Thank goodness we stumbled upon it as quick as we did!
I’ve been thinking about what I want my mantra/theme/word to be for the year. And with 2017 being so crazy with the world and personal life I’ve decided that my focus in 2018 is to be more loving and have more compassion. So if I’m being a big jerk feel free to remind me. What is word for the year?
