'Let’s start things off in the very north of #Chile, the Atacama Desert. This place is officially the driest non-polar desert in the world, and it has some of the most alien landscapes I’ve ever seen. It is here that you’ll find the Valle de la Luna, the Valley of the Moon – the name says it all really! Even though it feels like you’re on another planet, it is incredibly peaceful and beautiful too. There really aren’t many places that look like this! - @anadventurousworld#BestInTravel#lpinstatakeover

I found it both fascinating and refreshing that the Maya people, who still practice their form of spirituality, live pretty seamlessly with the Guatemalan Catholics. So much so that it wasn’t at all unusual to find Maya ceremonies taking place inside Catholic Churches or Catholic saints and crosses adorning Maya sacred sights on mountaintops and hillsides. #cantwealljustgetalong#guatemala#chichicastenango#mayancivilization
‘Sigiriya Rock is an ancient fortress and a protected World Heritage Site. The rock stands 200 meters (660 ft) high and once served as a king's palace and a Buddhist monastery. I had only two days to explore the site, so I took full advantage! The first morning I hiked to the top of the rock, but the second morning I flew my drone to the top! Surprisingly, both made me sweat profusely...flying a drone can really get your heart going!‘ – @ianbarin.#lpinstatakeover#travel#lonelyplanet#srilanka

‘Most of Sri Lanka is stunning, but the train ride from Ella to Nuwara Eliya has some of the country's most incredible sights. From tea plantations to mountainside towns, every moment is a new and exciting photo opportunity. What’s your favourite mode of transportation when travelling? Share in the comments! 🚂 ’ – @ianbarin#lpinstatakeover#travel#lonelyplanet#srilanka
‘Is this Ella? Cause the clouds sure look like Kandy! #srilankahumor Believe it or not, I took this sunrise photo from the balcony of my homestay. Sometimes you can just tell when an incredible sunrise is about to occur. As I was waking up, I saw the sky full of perfectly dotted clouds. With a jolt of adrenaline, I rushed to set up my camera and enjoy life’s most beautiful light-show. In the words of Cheryl Strayed, “there’s a sunrise and sunset every day. You can choose to be there for it. You can put yourself in the way of beauty.' – @ianbarin. That's a wrap for this weekend's #lpinstatakeover folks! 'As the most colourful district in Buenos Aires, La Boca has a bohemian, artsy feel and is a photographer’s dream. Visitors find themselves surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colours in every direction. From the facades of the storefronts and shanty houses to the sidewalks themselves, it’s like a rainbow at every turn.' - @globeguide -- That's a wrap for this weekend's #lpinstatakeover! 'These stilt fishermen are a regular feature of the Sri Lankan coastline. It’s now largely more lucrative to pose for the photos than actually fish however. I photographed these two in #Galle.’ – @ianbarin#lpinstatakeover#travel#srilanka

This past autumn, I journeyed around the country for two weeks, camera and drone in hand. This frame features the beautiful blues and greens of Mirissa.’ – @ianbarin. 'This picture was taken on a road in Northern #Namibia. As it often goes, wildlife appears when you least expect it. To literally almost bump into a herd of giraffes in the otherwise deserted landscape was completely unexpected. Namibia is a country for slow travellers and most of the best memories from this trip come from the unplanned encounters like this one. What’s your most memorable wildlife encounter?' –

'Visiting the Perito Moreno Glacier in #Patagonia, #Argentina was overwhelming in the best way possible. The mass of ice is larger than the entire city of Buenos Aires, and rises nearly 250 feet above the brilliant, Caribbean-blue water that surrounds it. As I stood there trying to take it all in, I heard a low rumble in the distance. Suddenly, a huge chunk of ice cracked off the side, roaring as it tumbled down into the water, creating a huge splash and breaking the spell of the sparkling, still lake. It was a truly unforgettable sight.” -- @globeguide#lpinstatakeover#lonelyplanet#travel#lppathfinders
