Life is not all sunshine and rainbows.
And...it does not have to be.
The pursuit of happiness can be such a trap...especially if it is fuelled by a repulsion of our human ‘negative’ emotions.
Equanimity...is not the absence of emotion, or specifically...not the absence of undesirable emotions...it is the ACCEPTANCE of ALL emotions...and the ability to respond appropriately.
What defines responding appropriately?
Well...it most certainly is NOT happiness in the face of tragedy. It is NOT downplaying or suppressing our feelings in order to appear ok or to appear ‘spiritually evolved’ or ‘positive’. It IS..seeing things as they are...responding...not reacting, specifically not over-reacting!
It is NOT...setting up camp in misery land and clinging onto your pain perpetuating suffering.
Equanimity...IS the ability to feel, respond appropriately and move on.
Stop ‘trying’ to be happy.
Stop being averse to your negative emotions.
Stop being absorbed in drama.
Stop dragging the past into now.
Stop being spiritually egoic.
Start being aware of what is.
Start allowing yourself to feel.
Start responding rather than reacting.
Start observing yourself.
Start wisely discerning.
Start accepting it is ok to not be ok.
❌ NO SWIMMING ❌ The #swell is still increasing and we can expect heavier pounding #surf tomorrow (Tuesday). Many beaches are closed in the #PortMacquarie Hastings area ( #Lighthouse/ #LakeCathie/ #BonnyHills/ #NorthHaven). Avoid the beaches & do not go swimming if you don’t see the red and yellow flags. The swell peaks Tuesday 16th and should ease in time for the weekend.
When you stand...be aware of your feet on the ground.
Lift through the arches of your feet. Draw the energy up your shins. Engage your kneecaps and switch on your thighs. Tighten your pelvic floor and lift it higher up towards your navel. Draw your navel gently towards your lower back.
Let your ribs expand as you breathe in and relax as you breathe out.
Whenever you are on your feet be aware of how they are connecting to the ground (even though shoes). Occasionally, let your feet fly above your head.
Take care of these things that carry you around...give them a rub, massage them with oil, soak them in water with Epsom salts...give them some gratitude for taking you places. 🙏🏼 thank you feet 🙏🏼 #yogarebel#yogireb#livewelllovelife#lakecathie#yogaaustralia#feet#yoga#gratitude#sky#selflove
