These buds are sealed up tight- it seems like nothing is going on within these hard casings. But in reality, their inner world is busy planning to burst forth in the spring. It’s the same with us- in winter we go within. We cocoon in our homes, under blankets, hugging mugs of tea, retreating to our dreams , to journaling and meditating. It may seem like winter is a waste of time, but all of these pursuits help us gather strength to create what we most need to manifest in our lives. They let us grow deep roots.
Yoga is an important part of this process. With practice, we can refine our knowledge of Self, leading us to greater clarity and vision.

“...for we must have rest and respite from Work. And all the world was at rest. The roads were well nigh impassable, and even the Thames froze as far upstream as London, making normal commerce impossible. The fields lay open and frozen, and the ... people waited and played. Should not we do likewise?”
Margaret George, The Autobiography of Henry VIII
Winter is a sacred time for rest and rejuvenation. As nature slumbers, our inner worlds turn quiet. When the chatter of our minds gives way to stillness, we can see our own reflection clearly.
