RIP K-9 Addi
EOW September 29, 2017
For those of you who don't know who K-9 Addi is, she was an eleven year old Dutch Shepherd. She retired as a dual purpose law enforcement K-9 who served for many years in east central Alabama.
She was responsible for finding concealed illegal drugs and locating suspects who had fled. She was also trained for SWAT operations.
Some may remember, K-9 Addi was injured in the line of duty in June 2014 when she was involved in a warrant roundup operation. After recovering from her injuries, she returned to service briefly prior to retiring with her owner/handler.
She has put smiles on many faces ... young and old alike ... during the many K-9 demonstrations we have done over the years.
K-9 Addi was diagnosed with bone cancer and later crossed the Rainbow Bridge on September 29, 2017 with her handler by her side.
Thank you to Katie’s Pampered Pets for allowing her to get one last pampering bath in. Thank you to Enterprise Pet Crematory for helping with her final arrangements. Thank you to We Ride to Provide for honoring her and helping to ensure no one forgets her.
We have now formed a non profit, tax exempt charitable organization, the K-9 Addi Memorial Foundation, which provides grants for validated public safety K-9 units to attend approved training/certification events.
