Let the sunshine in!! Happy to enjoy this sunny day😎This statue in Via dei Mercanti has a funny story to tell. As you might know, statues used to be a mean of propaganda in Italy, that's why they changed a lot through the years.
This one, in particular, changed its identity 4 times: from Lady Justice to Philip II king of Spain (aka 'the Prudent'), then the Roman Brutus (assassin of his father Julius Caesar!) and at a later stage Saint Ambrogio (Milan's patron saint). Of course each identity was meant to carve a message into people's hearts... The result is the city's patron saint dressed up in a toga and called by locals "Sant'Ambrogio with boobs". (Don't try to find those boobs, cause you won't really see them, they're no longer there)
