To think I might have skipped this today. I am so glad I didn’t. I almost let negative self talk convince me that I didn’t have time to practice #bowpose. I usually dread this pose. It’s so hard. Feels awkward. Frustrates me, squishes my chest, bruises my hip bones. Any excuse not to. I told myself I am not going to listen to that voice. I decided to “just see” and I surprised myself with flipping grip and lifting pretty high up. I am so happy. 🤩 I love when I can change my mind and body both in positive ways. This video shows my last 2 tries. I did four. The first bow on the video is my favorite practice. I was looking at the sky and saw a beautiful halo around the sun. I watched it, lifted higher and took deeper breaths (didn’t totally mute my heavy breathing to show the effort I was putting in). I felt good in bow pose 🙌🏽 . That is major progress. Coming out of bow? Still a challenge. I really enjoyed this practice today. I would keep trying but need to go pick up my other little one from school now. This is day 19 of #ayearofyoga2018 and I will share last year later 🙏🏽💕 oh and I included my warm up with straps and socks in the cover photo. Yes this is what I use: socks when my straps feel too long ☺️
Meet one of our awesome students, Dusty! @dtteng “I love how the classes at Air combine playful shapes with a physical and mental challenge. It makes working out really fun. I keep coming back because I’m drawn to activities that keep me learning and growing. I love being able to learn something new every time I come!”
DAY 19 19JAN2018
Koya Webb @koyawebb taught Om Stars 30 Day Yoga Living Challenge class today. She is a great teacher but I really wasn't feeling class today not because of anything to do with class but because of life in general. 🍃
I came to the mat with a feeling of sadness or a sense of mourning this morning that drastically effected my practice. I believe it is me realizing there are some things I need to deal with in my life. I have been feeling that way the last few weeks and yoga has helped me work through it tremendously. Today though I was overwhelmed by it.
During class, because of it, I felt lost, confused and in a constant rushed state. By the time I figured out what was going on and getting into the pose she was already settling into the next one. 1/2 the time I couldn't perform the move and had to disengage from the previous one to look up to see what Koya was doing to follow suit. I just couldn't find a flow or even a calm place. That's even with me almost accomplishing Flying Pigeon Pose or Eka Pada Galavasana (photo 3) for the 1st time.
I felt defeated and 20 minutes or so in paused the video and sobbed like a baby about feeling uncoordinated and confused. My emotions poured out onto the mat.
😭 ***I should note I am also PMSing it, apparently pretty badly this month, and should probably try one of her classes when I am not. 🐱🐈🐱🐈
#PrincessOpossum#TittyKitty#YogaCat came as usual and in the later half of my practice made me laugh as she ran back and forth through my legs as I practiced camel pose (Photos 2). 🌼🌻🌼🌻 ****************************************
Ready to join the 30 Day Yoga Challenge? Its not too late...
I wish there was a forward button.
That’s what I used to say two weeks ago. I just wanted the whole packing and moving to be done. Now I’m in my new apartment with tears in my eyes. I wish I could go back to those days. Enjoy every moment. It feels so weird being at this new place. I find myself wandering around- not sure what to do or where to go. Like a tiger in a cage. Don’t get me wrong. I like my new place. I just have troubles of letting go. Changes are always hard for me.
So here’s a little throwback: puppy pose with the puppy in my old apartment. I haven’t practiced in my new apartment yet- so today’s going to be a first. First practice in my first own yoga room. Something to look forward to.
