Dream Lake with soft sunrise colors after a fresh snow. I can't even tell you how many times I've been here, but the view never gets old. There's so many moods to this place depending on not just the season, but every different day. Anytime I just want a quick, quiet (only in the winter) hike it's great to sneak up here for a sunrise and if I'm in the mood I can continue on in a few other directions. Not every day looks this beautiful but I'm always happy to see it. Do you have any places that you always return to, time and time again?
📍Davenport Cove is locally known by several different names including Shark Fin Cove and Shark’s Tooth Beach because of the huge rock in the mouth of the cove that looks like a shark fin or tooth. This is a sandy beach in a small deep cove south of the town of Davenport. Another unique feature of this beach is the large rock arch tunnel that you can walk into. At low tide you can get all the way through it. On the way into the cove there is an old mining tunnel that looks like a deep cave. The trail to Shark’s Tooth Cove Beach can have difficult footing and make the access dangerous. Like many of the secluded beaches in this area Davenport Cove is frequented by clothing optional beach visitors. Look for a pull-out parking area along Highway 1 about a half-mile north of Bonny Doon Road at Bonny Doon Beach. From the parking area walk across the railroad tracks and look for a trail at the back of the cove starting next to the tracks. The blufftop farm road north of the cove has one of the best views of the shark tooth if you’ve come here for photos. This road continues to a secret beach below the farm and makes a nice hiking loop.

Flying over the elegant river systems of Iceland as they flow through black volcanic sand 🇮🇸 This bird’s eye view is exhilarating, as you get to see the intriguing combination of colours, patterns and lines. The vast majority of rivers in Iceland originate from the country's glaciers and for centuries, the runoff has carved itself through the young landscape, sculpting valleys, cliffsides and mountain ridges.
