Thrown in at the deep end. Huge amount of respect for @akocam on his first winter adventure. After starting the day with a crash course in rope work, we quickly moved on to mixed climbing with a single ice axe. Here we see Cameron putting his new skills to the test on the approach to cneifion arete. So much for the clear skies weather forecast..
Practising alpinism in the mountain chain of Madrid!!! 😍😍😍 it was a really cold day!!! -12 degree ❄❄❄ and more than 50 centimetres of snow 🌨🌧🌧
Teaching new climbers about lead climbing ice is a big step for everyone. This course may be their last structured stop toward learning the intricacies of taking on the icy sharp-end of the rope, responsibly. It's a big step and I take great pride in passing along my knowledge and experience. Today was a successful day 1 and I am already looking forward to tomorrow with great excitement!
