I was holding my tears back as I took my first bite of this dish. You might be asking, “Steak and mashed potatoes - how can this be so different?” I don’t like mashed potatoes. When my boyfriend heard my statement, he swore that he would make me mashed potatoes that I WOULD LOVE. This plate was somehow inspired by a dish we ate at Eleven Madison (New York). The mashed potatoes are the FLUFFIEST, the SMOOTHEST and the CREAMIEST mashed potatoes I have ever eaten IN MY LIFE. Underneath is a mushroom paste from roasted mushrooms and infused with truffle oil. The steak, a USDA Prime Rib, sous vide and seared to perfection. The beef jus, peppery and garlicky, just how I like it. Although I requested @choisysoup to cook for my birthday, I wasn’t expecting him to create a 5 course meal for my birthday- and it was about me. Everything from the appetizer to the dessert was created from love and presented with a short story about why I would like the dish.
