we were fortunate enough to see these amazing Hawaiian green sea turtles ("honu") coming in for their nap in the sun on Lanikea Beach on Oahu's North Shore. they are considered a threatened species so their protection and preservation is an ongoing effort in Hawaii. the first time i saw one up close was on our second trip during a surf lesson. i was just hanging on to my board and drifting when a honu popped his head up a couple of feet away and looked at me. i was stunned. absolutely fell in love with them. currently have three honu tattoos on my leg, along with much artwork and jewelry. so getting these photos at "Turtle Beach" was a huge thrill.
Today we had the pleasure of meeting these beautiful #honu (Hawaiian sea turtles) while snorkelling at #electricbeach !! I named them Franklin & Charles (not sure if they are male or female lol) #oahu#hawaii
Surprise gift at home! Jonathan chose and placed these beautiful and soft mats in the yoga room. He ❤️ turtles, and we ❤️ some ocean themed yoga. Maybe my little yogi hasn’t grown out of yoga with mom just yet since we now have coordinated mats! I’m so touched. #kidsyoga#acroyoga#familyyoga#turtles#ohana#newmat#sosoft#honu P.S. he’s agreed to be my date for this weekend ‘s #yogaball
If you frequent the water you've seen the harm humans can cause marine life from irresponsible use and disposal of fishing gear. This is an example of a turtle that has fishing line wrapped around it's right flipper into a hook in it's mouth with more line wrapped around the left flipper. On top of that it is suffering from a huge tumor on it's right flipper that has grown around the line. It is illegal to touch green sea turtles Chelonia midas. I reached out to NOAA and asked them what to do if you see a trapped or entangled protected marine animal. You should contact either the turtle response team or marine mammal response team through the NOAA website if you are able to do so. Keep eyes on the animal until they get there if possible. In order to protect yourself from being bitten or hurt by the animal never touch an animal directly. Marine debris should be removed whenever you come across it. We found this turtle again after someone presumably turtle response team had helped it (identified by his tumor) and you can see the range of motion in his swimming is much better in the second video.
I woke up to the sound of wind chimes dancing on the breeze... my day off had finally arrived, yet the music outside my window did not bode well for a sunny day spent in meditation and reflection... grey skies greeted me as I opened my eyes to the world outside. I wanted to grumble about it being “just my luck,” but I was reminded by the gentle voice of gratitude that a day off, regardless of the weather, was still a day for me to revel in. So, Yodi and I jumped in the car in search of sunshine. Little did we know we be granted almost two hours of sun and special visitor on our adventure... and, even as we found ourselves caught in a downpour, I don’t think either of us minded. —
The new long exposure effect @apple introduced for the IPhone is pretty nifty 🤓 Magic is real! ✨

Change is the only constant. 4 metre Southerly swell turning byron inside out for the next few days. Batten the hatches and fingers crossed this change delivers crystal clear Bluewater to the bay. If you want to explore byron bay underwater join me with @wildbyronseasafaris !
