Take time to recover. When we are constantly in go mode, there is no time to recover and no downtime. There is no time to stop and take a break and we can feel like we are just running on adrenaline. When we are working so hard and taking care of others there is rarely time to take care of ourselves unless we make the time. If you are feeling burnt out and run down from doing all the thing you have been doing lately then it’s important to take time to recover.
If you have been feeling exhausted, lacking motivation, moody and irritable you body is trying to communicate with you to let you know that it needs some downtime and rest.
Yes, I know you are busy, and I know it seems like you can’t take anytime to rest but it is important to listen to what your body is trying to tell you or you can wind up sicker or more burnt out then you already are.
So whether it be going to bed an extra hour earlier every night, staying in on a Saturday night to just chill, hiring someone to take some extra work off your plate, taking a mini vacation or whatever you need to feel like you have given your body the rest and recovery that you need to feel rejuvenated.
If you are an business owner, entrepreneur, or aspiring entrepreneur (even if you are not entrepreneur feel free to join me in this training) and you are feeling burned out then you will not want to miss my 5 day virtual workshop starting on January 22nd, Burnt Out to Bliss. Threw caution to the wind (and sleet 🌨) and headed out on a quick run this morning! But...where'd the Freedom Tower go??
I see so many people talking A LOT to their dogs to try to get them to do things. Some people try the soft approach and talk in a soft or baby voice trying to negotiate with their dog. Some people are angry or frustrated and yell at their dog.
• • •
Dogs know us through energy, plain and simple. The most effective energy to influence a dog is being calm and certain. To influence any animal to be calm, we have to be calm ourselves. Certainty or confidence is also critical as it makes a dog feel that you know what you want which is what they want to follow instinctively.
• • •
When we do a lot of talking, we forget that dogs don't speak English. It's kind if crazy when you really think about it. To them when we ramble on in our language, it would be like someone yelling at you in Chinese because they want something from you but you don't understand Chinese at all. Imagine the frustration you'd feel. Picture walking down the street and someone walks up to you and starts talking Chinese in a baby voice to you and won't stop. Talk about frustrating.
• • •
People are always shocked at how I barely use any words when working with a dog and how they seem to understand. They key is I'm teaching them in the way they know to learn, through the nose and through energy. As humans we want them to learn through eyes and ears and specifically through understanding the English language in America.

We owe it to our dogs to learn about Dog Psychology and help them navigate our human world in a way that THEY understand, not the way we want them to understand. Stay calm, be confident and educate yourself on the psychology of a dog and watch how differently your relationship will be for the better with your dog!

Back to our scheduled programming 😉 Last night, the "snow event" delayed itself enough so I didn't miss out on running with this crew. It was still eventful with the cold and that Jersey City detour because of a tree situation that's been there for months. But regardless, we got our run in. With a returning member, our regular members, and 2 newbies. Shout out to my fellow 2017 NYC 60ker & Chicago marathoner @pattirunforlife for coming out & sticking with me. Always great to see you! #TheCasualTuesdays#jrnation#jackrabbitruns#evolutionnotresolution#runhoboken#hoboken#jerseycity

Name: Dawn Pascale
Specialty: We focus on #plantbased and #glutenfree pastries, desserts and products for wholesale, corporate and private events. Our products are made in our 100% gluten-free and #vegan facility.
The problem your business solves: We give consumers with #foodallergies and sensitivities the opportunity to enjoy decadent treats.
What’s your story: While working at Citigroup in 2005, I launched Simply Home Goods, a bakery that specialized in traditional cakes, cookies and pies. When I was laid off in January 2013, I decided that it was time to pursue my passion full-time. On a whim, I registered for the #veganbakingbootcamp at the @naturalgourmetinstitute that was taught by the “queen of vegan desserts”, @goodcakesfran Through the course, I was introduced to baking without dairy, eggs, and any refined sugar products. As my business expanded, I found more and more people asking for products that met specific dietary requirements. I saw this as an opportunity to create good-for-you, scrumptious and mindful desserts that appeal to everyone regardless of food sensitivities, allergies, lifestyles and preferences. So I started reformulating my Simply Home Goods recipes into vegan and gluten-free creations and launched Om Sweet Home in May 2013.
What are you most proud of about your business: When I could not find a palm oil-free butter alternative to use in my products, I decided to make my own. Our Om Sweet Home-branded, Non-Dairy Butter Alternative melts, spreads and whips like dairy butter and is free from the top eight food allergens. I use our vegan butter in baked goods and sell it via a selection of wholesale clients throughout #NewYork and #NewJersey. .
What do you love most about being a food entrepreneur?: It’s almost therapeutic for me when people come in into my bakery. When you have a 5-year-old who has never had a cookie because of food allergies, or someone with #Celiac disease who can now enjoy a muffin, it’s really special.

Me: I’m going to be really productive today!
Also me: I’m going to waste time making vegan spring rolls!
Procrastination at its finest, but not hating it this time 😉 I took a page out of Jana’s (@namastesweet) book and made these veggie spring rolls with rice paper and they came out 😛😛😛 I used tofu marinated in coconut aminos, roasted sweet potato, cucumber sliced, shredded carrots, romaine, and drizzled @traderjoes almond butter and turmeric dressing over top!
For the tofu: press tofu for 30 mins (I use an ez press I bought on amazon) then slice and marinate in a container with coconut aminos in the fridge for 30 mins. Shake the container to make sure the coconut aminos are evenly distributed! Then I cooked the tofu on the stove top with a little avocado oil and the left over coconut aminos from the marinade. So good 🔥

Melissa contacted us about her dog Yoshi who she took ownership of in August of 2017. Since having Yoshi she was really struggling with massive leash pulling and some serious reactivity to other dogs. By teaching Melissa about Dog Psychology and setting Yoshi up for success, Melissa was able to walk Yoshi right by another dog with no reaction and had Yoshi paying attention to her instead of everything else. There's still more work to do to remove all the negative conditioning Yoshi has had in his life but we made tremendous progress in just 2 hours of work. We're so excited to continue working with Melissa so she can achieve an amazing relationship with him and at the same time create a calm, balanced and happy life for Yoshi!
