It's safe to say today didn't go as planned.. with the weather forecasted for 70+ degrees I was so excited to take Eli somewhere and enjoy the weather, a hike or to the beach. After having stomach pains all day and a rough day at work I was so looking forward to some relaxing fun. Well it's never a good sign when you come home and your first thought is, "what's that smell?"... 2 1/2 hours of cleaning and it's still not all done. I love Eli to death and think he's the greatest dog ever but by no means is he perfect. He has accidents, still. For every time he listens to what I ask there are three times he won't. He's a real pain isn't the butt sometimes. I really don't know the whole point of this other than finding the silver lining. They say you don't get the dog you want, you get the dog you need.
These puppies are going like hot cakes! Meet Kimee... but don’t get too attached. Looks like she probably already has an adoption pending, but we couldn’t not share this pic by @shainafishman because A.) It’s an amazing photo and B.) This is a great example of how inspiring rescue can be when everyone works together, each doing their own specialty so well that the new pups get adopted right away... making room for us to save more lives more quickly each time. Kimee and the rest of the new crew from TN only arrived Saturday, but with our powers combined, we’ve got adoption applications up the wazoo for them and most are on their way to forever homes! It’s not always like this, of course. Some dogs linger up for adoption for months. It doesn’t hurt that these puppies are damn cute, and we magically pulled together some awesome timing for their first photo shoot, but still — this is a perfect time to thank all the cogs in the machine for making this ship run: rescue partners, volunteers, photographers, event hosts, application processors, foster parents... you guys are are soul. Speaking of foster parents, just to tease you a little more, Kimee’s says: “Kimee is simply an amazing pup! She is very intelligent, well behaved and just wants to hang with the family. Kimee loves going on long walks, playing fetch and doing homework with my daughter. We have already trained her how to sit on command! Her herding instincts kick in when she sees other dogs so she does tend to bark at them but once an introduction has been made she is very friendly! Kimee loves to give kisses and have her belly rubbed. She is a sweetheart.” #rescuedogsofinstagram#heeler#heelersofinstagram#heelerpuppy#cattledog#puppy#puppylove#puppiesofinstagram#spots#spotteddog#petphotography#teamwork#gratitude#grateful#rescuedog#adoptdontshop#animalrescue#lucky#cute#fosteringsaveslives#nyc#love#life#raisingawareness#savinglives#changetheworld#socialtees#socialteesnyc#straypride
Last weekend I fell in love. My heart is still a flutter. I met this creature last weekend at @socialteesnyc. I was there to photograph a group of new rescues. This nuggets name is Kerrie. She stole my heart. She is a heeler or otherwise know as a cattle dog. I’m obsessed with the breed but you don’t see a lot of them in NY. The breed is extremely intelligent and also active. They are herding dogs so be prepared to be herded. When I learned that I’d be photographing 5 month old cattle dogs I was prepared for a challenge. I thought it would be a tough time to get them not moving or wiggling. Well, the intelligence won over the active trait. She and her siblings were the perfect models. They sat for me. They laid down, they rolled over. They really hammed it up. I know I say this about a lot of dogs, that they were good models, but really these guys were amazing. Plus, if there ever is a “bad” model I just try to remember the good things about them. #blueheeler#heelersofinstagram#cattledog
