CACTUS QUEEN a little closer to being finished. The headdress is not attached yet, and there will be more flowers around the head. The spots of glare on the face will be gone once I get the piece varnished. She's going to the 13th Birthday show @cactusgallery, opening March 10. #artmasks#papermacheart#handstitched#cactusart

There’s a few new people around here, so I figured I’d hop on with #fridayintroductions & warm you about what you’re getting yourself into....😈 My name is Jennifer, owner/artist at the little wing. I’ve been married to my college boyfriend for nearly 18 years & we have two beautiful girls. I make cloth dolls from new & vintage textiles in my home studio/guest room. I’m constantly dreaming up things to bring to my shop, including peg dolls, zipper pockets, embroidery hoop art, & totes from vintage linens. I share pretty much everything on here, from my work to my babies to my opinions on all the things. I thought about creating a separate IG account for personal stuff, but I’m too unorganized to handle two accounts, so it’s all here. 🤷🏼♀️ I love hip hop/RnB/neo soul music & 80’s hair bands, chips & salsa, whiskey, books, & all things old & tacky. I am a firm believer in naps & not taking myself too seriously. The older I get the less frequently my filter works, so you will occasionally encounter an opinion you may not agree with & that’s ok. I also cuss, much to my parents’ dismay. I donate a portion of my profits to #pediatriccancerresearch & other causes important to my heart. I hope you’ll stick around for my antics & maybe buy a doll or ten. 💛
Just finished this 5" hoop and I'm thinking it would make a great beginner pattern! Would you lovely folks like to see it as a pattern? 🌸
Edit: you guys are awesome! I'll definitely make it into a pattern in the next week or so! :)

🌿ANNOUNCEMENT! KINDA BIG! RIGHT HERE!🌿
Despite the snow this weekend, spring is rolling around the corner. Camelias and daffodils are blooming in my yard and tulips are sending up their leaves. In the forest, I will soon start to see the bright green spring tips of douglas fir appear on the end of heavy boughs, and I will be filled with hope. Winter is long and hard on me, and those flashes of green in the canopy remind me that darkness does not stay forever and everything becomes new again.
This year, the coming spring is especially significant to me. Next month, I’m leaving my full-time office manager job and focusing all of my efforts into growing this business, making & teaching embroidery, and building community. The potential for so many new opportunites and challenges is thrilling and terrifying, but most of all I’m lucky to be privileged enough to have the chance to wholeheartedly pursue what I am passionate about.
What this means for you: more finished pieces, more kits, more in-person markets, and WORKSHOPS. My first class will be on March 20, Spring Solstice, hosted by @sawtellslm, and I’ll be teaching the above pattern and making gin and tonics. details and registration coming soon, along with so much more. love you.
i feel a little like a broken record, but i always say that the tiniest details make the biggest impact.
these tiny green stitches lighten the entire the piece as a whole (i'll show you that soon) and it really adds a lot to the piece, even though the stitches are small.
i believe it's worth it to take the time to add special touches here and there. so often it is the tiny details that give a design it's unique personality.
