新年快乐! Happy New Year! The first night of the new year is traditionally a reunion dinner with one’s family. The menu varies from region to region, family to family. Steamed whole fish, sticky rice dumplings wrapped in lotus leaves, steamboat/hotpot, roast meats, noodles - the commonality is that there is a LOT of food. My family has adopted the tradition of “Lo Hei” salad, a Singaporean adaptation of a Teochew tradition also know as “yu sheng,” which literally means “raw fish” but is a wordplay that means “Prosperity Toss.” Lo Hei, which roughly translates to “Toss High” in Cantonese (yes, all the different regional influences are at play here) is comprised of strips of raw fish, various shredded vegetables, and a dressing/spices to tie everything together. Some members of my family aren’t fans of raw fish so we compromise by using strips of seasoned and cooked fishcake. Everyone is given a pair of chopsticks and, at the time of service, encouraged to toss the salad as high as possible. The higher the food is tossed, the greater one’s prosperity and fortune.

Cuciwis, rasanya enak, meski sudah mateng teksturnya tetap krenyes2 (ga lembek seperti sayuran daun lain), mengolahnya pun gampang. Kuncinya hanya menumisnya tidak boleh terlalu lama.
❤ tumis cuciwis siram saus telur.
250 gram cuciwis, dibersihkan, dibelah 2 bagian
1 siung bawang putih, dicincang halus
1/4 sendok teh garam
1/4 sendok teh merica bubuk.
Bahan saus telur:
2 siung bawang putih, dicincang halus
1/2 buah bawang bombay, dipotong kotak
1 buah cabai merah, dipotong miring
2 sendok makan saus tiram
1 sendok makan kecap asin
1/4 sendok teh garam
1/4 sendok teh merica bubuk
1 butir telur ayam, kocok lepas
200 ml air
1/2 sendok makan maizena dilarutkan dalam 1 sendok makan air, untuk mengentalkan
1 sendok makan minyak untuk menumis.
-Tumis bawang putih hingga harum. Aduk rata. -Tambahkan cuciwis. Aduk hingga setengah layu. -Masukan garam, dan merica bubuk. Aduk rata. Angkat dan sajikan di piring
-Tumis bawang bombay dan bawang putih hingga harum.
- Masukkan saus tiram, garam, dan merica bubuk. Tuang air. Aduk hingga mendidih.
-Masukan kocokan telur, aduk cepat Kentalkan dengan larutan maizena. Aduk hingga meletup-letup .

Finally got a chance to try their bbt!!! I love green tea so I got their green tea macchiato to try. The tea taste was very strong and not too sweet. Loved it! However I think I prefer the cheese foam instead of milk foam.. as it adds a nice texture to the drink overall. Also, love their little heart stopper! Super cute!!! Will come back for their other drinks though 😍
