Does anyone else love walking through fresh snow in a forest? Rumor has it we just got a bunch of snow in the Sierra. Looking out my tent I don't see any but I think we can find some. Any suggestions where I should go?

Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhood, Gastown grew from a single tavern founded by John "Gassy Jack" Deighton back in 1867. Today, the district retains its historic charm, including the Steam Clock on Water Street, a later addition, commissioned by the City of Vancouver and built by clockmaker Raymond Saunders in 1977. Some of you that have been following along with our bears may remember the bear (Buddy) that had her first cub last year.
2017 was the first year we didn't have any sightings of her at all. We did however see her cub a few times (now a yearling) after mom would have sent her off before breeding season which typically takes place in May/June.
When sending their yearlings off to figure out life on their own mother bears will try to give them an area where food is plentiful to make the transition without mom easier. This could explain why there were no sightings, she just moved out of the area to give her cub a good chance on her own. We hope to see mom again in the spring with new cubs. It was wonderful to see her yearling several times throughout the year.... Here are a few clips of this family, my next post you will see how they tie into our bear family with the twins this year....
"Jemma and I just had an incredible long weekend at the very beautiful and very family friendly @skibigwhite resort in BC, Canada. Over the weekend we took multiple ski lessons, went ice skating, tubing, rode on a horse drawn sleigh ride, went hot tubbing outside, watched fireworks and even went ice climbing! This is an adventure the two of us will remember forever! On top of all of that the mountain is incredibly beautiful as you can see in this pic. The snow ghosts stand like frozen statues in an all white winter wonderland. We'll be back!" 📷 + caption by @ryanintheus who was visiting last weekend from Seattle. #exploreBC#exploreCanada#SkiBigWhite#Route97#exploreKelowna
