#Paddling workout of the week: Fartlek Intervals. Fartlek is a Swedish word for speed play. This is a non-structured workout in which you paddle at a steady pace and add in short surges of faster paddling.
For this workout, just randomly pick short sprints when you feel like it. For example, you're going to sprint from the next dock to the one behind it. Then paddle easy, and pick another random sprint distance, like 45 strokes. Just play with it, make it random. This can be a lot of fun with a training buddy -- just make sure they know when you're "racing" and what you're racing to...
