A newcomer for #MuralMonday ...a close up of the amazing @chris_rutterford 'København' mural @custom_lane 🌊
The København was a five-masted ship, built in Leith, which disappeared in 1928 while en route from Buenos Aires to Australia. "On December 22 the København exchanged radio messages with the Norwegian steamer William Blumer, indicating they were about 900 miles from Tristan da Cunha and that "all is well". The Blumer attempted to contact the København again later that night, to no avail. The ship was never heard from again."
The ship was primarily intended for training young cadets seeking an officer's license. When it disappeared there were 45 cadets on board plus crew.
The mural features the present day 7th Leith sea scouts, playing the role of the shipwrecked sea cadets.
Morning! Here we go again! I wish I was waking up to this icy crisp view of 2 of our 3 Forth bridges, but it is totally pouring down ☔️☔️! This was taken on our Brekkie out on Friday when it was super wintry! At the base of the two bridges, bang smack in-between is the Port Edgar Marina and a fab eaterie called @downthehatchsq ! Hope to try their Brekkie soon as only had lunch and it was fab 😍
Ok so which lucky so and so was served brekkie in bed this morning? Well I can guarantee it wasn’t me! 😩.
I have to say I can’t even remember the last time I even got that for Mother’s Day! Sob sob!.
Just for a bit of fun, what was the best Breakfast in Bed you have ever had?? (....keep it clean peeps! 🙊🤣) what food was served up?.
Gorgeous pic by @thisisglamorous 😍😍
The building which the Lantern Room now inhabits was once the headquarters of the Northern Lighthouse Board. Founded in 1786, the board designed and built Scotland’s first lighthouses. It is from this history that The Lantern Room found its name.
We're back in Edinburgh! It's only been three months since we were in Scotland, but what can we say - we love it! We'll be spending the next three days celebrating Hogmanay with @edinburghfestivals! First festivity to ring in the new year is the torchlight procession. We spent the night strolling down the Royal Mile as torch carriers - bagpipers, fireworks, and drummers included. Check it out on our story! #FestivalCity
