Things that happened last week: celebrated a close friend’s bday, watched another close friend get engaged, spent Chinese New Year w my family at my sister & brother-in-law’s beautiful new house, and the sun shone for the entire week up until last night when we saw some snow. //
Thinking about how these moments just keep on passing until one day we realize oh wow so that was my life
I walked past this old lady making silk and I had to go back and film it. The cocoons were soaked in the pot of really hot water (it was steaming), then she opens them one by one, pulling it over her hand and separating the larvae. After layering a few of them, they form a silk pouch looking thing. Fascinating.
“You cannot be a man of faith unless you know how to doubt. You cannot believe in God unless you are capable of questioning the authority of prejudice, even though that prejudice may seem to be religious. Faith is not blind conformity to a prejudice- a “pre-judgement.” It is a decision, a judgement that is fully and deliberately taken in light of a truth that cannot be proven. It is not merely the acceptance of a decision that has been made by somebody else.”
