I’m getting better at this OC1 downwinding business every time I get out there. I’ve learned a lot about catching bumps and staying on them just from watching GoPro video of my past downwinders too. It’s very rare that downwinders line up in our area yet we’ve been getting a lot of opportunities this month.
Great downwind class today with Lisa Elso, both blinded by the low winter sun. 16-20kt N and NEvwinds. Really nice waves on Shilshole Bay. Then a big fire response due to a call from a concerned citizen about us, common in winter here. All good. Exchanged cards, discussed safety protocols for paddlers. One suggested we call dispatch prior to going out, another disagreed. Something worth discussing. They were impressed with our full gear, radios and high visibility clothing. #psupa#seattlefiredepartment@uscg#supia
As you can see, I’m pretty happy with my new @onestanduppaddleinternational STORM 14’ x 24 inch wide dug out board. I had been using the same model but at 25 inch wide for a year and was ready to upgrade my board to achieve that little extra manoeuvrability and speed out there in the ocean. Can’t wait to chase some glides again as it’s been a while. Train hard to play hard. If you are wanting some information and looking to get into paddling, I couldn’t recommend any better brand than the team at #onesup go have a chat at #currumbin or send them a message on FB. #appreciation#fun#downwinding#paddlefit
