This is the dance of Ogun, one of the orishas (one of the gods) of the Yoruba religion. Did you know that salsa includes many afro-cuban elements like this one here? My dance instructor in Havana last year had seats in the front reserved for us for this event, which occurs every Sunday. It was amazing!
Nice cross-cultural moment of these two sharing the language of dance. This is guaguanco, one of the styles of rumba. It's a game where the man tries to catch the woman off guard and "vaccinate" her (Yes, it's a metaphor. It's called the "vacunao"). Prize for whoever sees the number of times he tries this and/or she protects herself! 💏
