How strange to include a power pole? Well not really, we all rely on them. The grid around here regularly survives hurricane force winds. The joys of living on top of an exposed mountain top in Snowdonia.
Zoom in and you will see a @royalairforceuk#chinnook passing in front of Yr Eifl.
Juvenile Oncorhynchus tshawytscha (Chinook salmon) being measured during a community salmon team seine in June 2009, the first year of our long term juvenile salmon diet dataset. Come hear what we've learned since then tomorrow at SalmonAtion 2018! We'll be at Lopez Center for Community and the Arts starting at 5:30 pm. More info on our Facebook page and Lopezrocks.
This is why I complain about living in Calgary, especially in the winter (please keep in mind that this doesn't account for windchill: the temperature actually felt a good 10 degrees colder on the frigid days, meaning that spike in early January felt more like a 50 degree increase). ☹️😣 At this point I generally consider myself to have pretty moderate pain levels, particularly in comparison to many of the remarkable #spoonies I know, but every time a damn chinook rolls through and the temperature shoots up like that my pain levels also spike. This means that not only do I often get crushing migraines (on top of my normal daily low-grade headaches) but all the joints in my body -- especially my spine/shoulders/ribs -- ache more than usual and stiffen up pretty impressively (and this for someone who lives with very high baseline tension at the best of times). And guess what: being in (more) physical pain is exhausting. It makes you miserable and grumpy and fragile feeling and makes the regular brain fog and fatigue so much harder to deal with, and it's particularly draining to feel like there's not a whole lot you can do about it, 'cause you know, barometric pressure is kinda pervasive 😖 /end rant.

*2 Years later and this post is still spot on*
The Good News: GNRL will be hiring one guide for the 2018 season.
The Bad News: I'm going to be honest now
You don't want this job if:: •You can't work a 100+ 12 hr days in a row. •You don't have the patience of a Buddhist monk.
•You don't have thick skin. This cannot be stressed enough. We are there to work. It's close quarters. People are going to yell at you, well, because you're probably f'n up, but dont take it personally, it’s your first year and no one is perfect. Also, we're not gonna be buddy buddy hanging out after hours your first season. It rarely works like that.
• You’re unable to function without your significant other. AKA, Cry baby miss my gf guy. This dude is the worst. •You think you're gonna make a bunch of money. You are not. You will make good money, but this isn’t Deadliest Catch money.
•Still reading? Great! •Now, Re-reading this it sounds pretty awful. Im not trying to dissuade everyone, just the ones who think this is a glamor job. It is not. •Now all that being said, I do love it. After quite a few seasons I’m now guiding full time in my home state and enjoying the best job I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t easy. •Also, the guys I've met and worked with are now some of my closest friends, and the in between moments during season are hilarious and we'll worth it. It does take a couple seasons though. •Case in point, one of my good friends now did not say more than 2 words at a time to me my entire first season.
So, email me @ [email protected] and upset your parents today!

And to whomever gets hired, good luck. 🤘
We've got some frosty temperatures in #FortCollins today. With that in mind, some would reach for a darker beer, but we think #OldAggie goes with the ice pretty perfectly.
Brewed with #Cascade and #Chinook hops, this beer tastes crisp while offering sweet honeycomb notes at the same time. Find it: www.newbelgium.com/beer/old-aggie 📸 @ryanwaneka
