Let's go back to the place where I left my mind for a while and lived outside of it. These pictures are constant reminders of how it's not impossible to cease the darkness, it's just little difficult. Let's fall in love with challenges.
Some people challenge themselves to jump from the 40 ft cliffs at Southpoint into the ocean below. When we arrived there, a 20 something year old female that getting ready to jump. She approached and then backed away from the edge several times before getting enough courage to follow through with her quest. As her family cheered and encouraged her, Slade and Ellie joined in. Slade was especially curious and had lots of questions including “why didn’t she just jump instead of keep changing her mind?” He told me he’ll jump there when he gets older and he won’t keep changing his mind. 😉😳 When we left the cliffs where they were jumping he gave his protest face 😠 as he wanted to stay longer. The great thing about our kids is they don’t stay upset for long and when I asked who was going to be the first to find an awesome rock near the water they both took of down the trail (which was yesterday’s photo!) #hawaii#thebigisland#southpoint#wanderlust#keepingitreal#southernmosttipofusa#beingfive#courage#capturelife#reallife
Is LOVE a word that can vary in intensity? If you LOVE someone, what are you saying? Is your love for your wife, the same as your love for pizza? While our language may have robbed us of specificity. We know LOVE has a deeper meaning.
LOVE transcends moments and remains long after feelings have subsided. LOVE by its vary nature is unselfish. LOVE is an action you take because of your LOVE.
To LOVE is “to do” not because of what you will receive in return. LOVE is not a job that you can expect payment for. If you buy her flowers because of what you will get later. That is not LOVE. LOVE is buying her flowers simply because of who she is and because you LOVE her. If you expect anything in return you are not LOVING. You are expecting, bartering, trading, working, wanting, or lusting.
A new commandment I give you, That you LOVE one another; as I have LOVED you, that you also LOVE one another. John 1:34
ps: Many thanks to Steve Tanksely for inspiring this post
it’s been several years now since I’ve lived and worked in the Middle East, but there will always be a special place in my heart for this part of our world.
a few weeks ago, had the opportunity to capture stills for a Syrian refugee family sponsored in partnership with the Home Office. barely settled in, they are already doing what they can to help us bring over more families in the same situation.
moved by their story to get here, inspired by their courage to start anew, but floored by their capacity to love others.

Though the east village has changed enormously throughout the years, it still has some of its unique flavor. Hope that doesn't ever fade away. NYC is transforming...inevitable....so I like to freeze time through photos 📷 One day, this backdrop may not be here. #capturelife

family // just amazes me to see how much impact the @mediacollectivelondon community has made on me already. the wisdom and collab have allowed me to move forward in so many areas of my life, not just in my craft. to embrace the process and understand missteps are a necessary part in creating anything great. it’s given me the courage to step out like i never have before.
thankful for this village, with the most inspiring, creative, and all around best people I know. special thanks to @ben.towers@katyhillmyworld@delmanning for laying it all out there last night, for the sake of building up others.
and to think this is only the beginning.
