“I really should exercise more”~ Maple
Please note that there are pet steps to the side of the bed - Maple just prefers to do things the hard way sometimes. Did you know that rabbits are farsighted and don’t necessarily see depth? Their eyes are positioned high at the side of the head, providing nearly 360 vision with a blind spot right at the front, this also precluding 3D vision of nearby objects. Maple probably can’t tell how far the bed top is, so she estimates it’s closer than it actually is, hence the trouble jumping up. Grizi, on the other hand, overestimates- hence the flying over the top that you can see her do.
Rabbits also don’t necessarily recognize us by facial features, as they see us relatively blurry. They use a combination of scent, shape outline, voice to recognize us individually - which explains why if you come home wearing a thick coat and hat, which change your “shape” and you bring scents from outside, your rabbit will run away from you in panic.
