Do you ever find yourself in an emotional state that you thought you had grown past? Maybe something triggers you and you’re sent into a smaller, less confident version of yourself and you think... “Really? This still bothers me?” Or “After all this work on myself, where is my growth?”
It’s wild how one conversation or one small incident can throw us back into a feeling we used to feel when we were younger, or in a different place in our lives.
Today I was reminded that I definitely still have shadow parts of myself that are in desperate need of the light of my consciousness.
Translation : Certain tiny things still bother me and bring up emotions of insecurity that cause me to feel a loss of control. If I bring awareness to these feelings as and after they happen and objectively look at why they came up, then I can dissolve them and gradually let go.
I was also reminded by a friend today that it took me many years to accumulate the conditioning that I currently have, and it may take many years to rewire my brain for the better.
Good things take time. Be patient with your growth. Practice self-compassion. Trust that you’re exactly where you need to be. Breathe. Continue forward.

So my daughter talked me into leaving our tree up. So Happy Valentines Day?? What do ya think. It’s almost all done. ❤️❤️. I do love just sitting here with only the tree lights on. It’s very cozy. #livelife#lovelife#breathe
#W2D5 Forgive. Without forgiveness, the wounds of the heart remain exposed as healing never takes place. Lack of forgiveness toward others, creates inner stress and a feeling of emptiness, which often gets filled with food. Lack of forgiveness toward self, creates an inner frustration and wipes out the desire to eat healthy. "I've already messed up anyway. Might as well keep eating."... is where the mind often tends to go. Forgiveness is protection over the wound, for true healing to take place. #traintheheart#TMFP#TheMastersFitnessPlan#forgiveness#fitness#faithandfitness#breathe#enjoy#love

It takes courage, my love
to breathe beyond your flesh
and through the layers -
of years and life
down into the origin
of the dark
and the spark
of everything you are.

Don't you worry my dear, life doesn't pass as fast as you think it will. Take a deep breath. Today you are 18, tomorrow you will still be 18, but don't ruin your life by sleeping with various boys and going to parties every weekend, no that is not a life you deserve to live and that is not a life you should be living...instead, go out with some friends, spend time with them, grab a cup of coffee and tell them why that teacher wasn't fair for giving you a B- when they should've given you an A. Tell them why you stopped listening to that band two years ago and tell them why your mother laughed at you. Tell them why you like that boy and how his smile is something contagious, but you'd rather focus on yourself than some boy. Go have a walk in the part, with your puppy or alone, listen to that band you stopped listening to two years ago. Travel. Laugh. Live. Have all the fun you want without having to destroy your future. Take a deep breath. You're still young.

Took advantage of the warmer weather today & did some flowing my favorite space. I taught Power Yoga early this morning and it was such a great way to start the day. The energy from my students truly fuels my love and passion for teaching.
After teaching, I managed to squeeze in a quick back work out before lunch with my family for my mom’s birthday! Feeling extra grateful lately ❤️ An intention I’m focusing on this year is finding joy & peace in the little things. Let’s chat! What is one of your intentions for 2018? 🧐
P.S. Wearing my favorite @aloyoga lounge leggings.
Whether you are a new yogi trying to build a foundation of strength in your modified vinyasa before advancing poses or you are a regular practitioner with sore muscles or suffering joint pain... knowing how to modify your vinyasa is so helpful if it’s something you do regularly in class or at home.
In class teachers may just say, “and vinyasa” without really taking the time to break it down for those who need to modify.
So I hope this helps you to find ways to modify yours so when you need to do so in class, you can without scrambling around trying to keep up with the class as you figure out what you’re supposed to be doing.
Remember modifying doesn’t mean you don’t get the same benefit as everyone else, because you do! You are just lightening the load on your joints and making it a tad easier on your muscles. Stay humble, enjoy the journey, and embrace where you are now! Honor your body, always.
Only had a minute to work with, so it was a little fast of an explanation.
Here is a short break down:
-Forward fold with bent knees. Keep connection with thighs and lower belly. Keep length in spine.
-Plank with knees on ground and lower into modified chaturanga. Elbows stay pressed into your side.
-Lower on to the belly before inhaling to low cobra. Shoulder blades pressing into eachother, keep shoulders rolled down back.
-Move through child’s pose, fold toes under, and up into downdog.
-Down dog with bent knees. Shoulders away from ears, space for neck to move. Lengthened spine, spread your fingers!
Hope this helps!

today i didn't step on the cracks
and i didn't break my mother's back.
today i talked to strangers without worry
(mom, don't worry, they won't hurt me).
today i asked 'why?' more times
than i said 'i know' and today
i may have even skipped a little
(don't tell the big kids. they always walk with their feet firmly planted)
you wouldn't believe it,
but i went outside and I took in the whole
world all in one big breath and
do you know what i tasted?
